Historia
Daniel Sloss' stand-up comedy engages, enrages, offends, unsettles, educates, comforts, and gets audiences roaring with laughter - all at the same time. In his groundbreaking specials, seen on Netflix and HBO, he has brilliantly tackled everything from male toxicity and friendship to love, romance, and marriage - and claims (with the data to back it up) that his on-stage laser-like dissection of relationships has single-handedly caused more than 300 divorces and 120,000 breakups.

Historia
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

The story doesn't work as an audiobook
Revisado: 11-13-22
I didn't get past the second hour. The narrators were great and the story wasn't bad, but it's just annoying to listen to.
The book is a fiction made as if it was a documentary, and so there are many characters "interviewed", and those interviews put together tell the story.
Sadly, those interviews are a collection of one-liners and short paragraphs. While this set up might be nice to read, or listen to if the listener already knew the characters, as a book opening, it sounded like a mess.
The stars are for the narrators performance, they were quite good.

A book that does the bdsm community justice...
Revisado: 11-11-22
a very rare specimen among stories in that regard.
I loved everything about this book. Luna's exploration of her own needs and desires. The nonexistent pressure on her persona. The fact this tale gives a window into the bdsm community while showing it's much much more than just whips and hooks. The beauty of dom/sub dynamics without the need of throwing pain in your face.
It was a masterpiece of introducing this world in my opinion.
I also have to mention that the narrators did amazingly. Viola Lorde made all the erotica parts even more sensual and they both complimented Luna and Jacob.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves real bdsm, erotic romance, and good writing.

Revisado: 11-10-22
I cannot find the right words to express just how much I loved this book. The narrators were spectacular, the story gripped my heart and I expect it won't let go long after I finished. It was honest, raw, and heartbreaking. I bow to Taylor's talent.

saved by the narrator
Revisado: 10-20-22
I am really happy, I listened to this book rather than reading it, because the amazing narrator managed to keep me tuned in.
Have I read the book, I don't think I would finish it. I get the message the author tired to tell us, but it just fell flat.
It's just a show of brutal scenes and the worse of what humans are capable of doing without any actual story to follow or anything of deep essense. There are nods to many issues, but none of them was really explored. I felt like I was given nothing but brutality for the sake of brutality. it's a shame b cause the book had a great potential.

Good build up, but the ending felt unsatisfying.
Revisado: 10-20-22
First of all, the performance was great, I loved both readers. they fit the characters they represented, while Verity felt sensual and mature, Lowen felt more naive and younger.
The story on the other hand was a little bit disappointing. it had a great start, full of suspense. Theories started to build up in my head, I loved it. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say anything specific,, but I expected a huge twist at the end and what happened wasn't it.
I enjoyed the book overall though, I don't regret listening to it or anything.

In the highly anticipated finale to the New York Times best-selling trilogy, dictators, prophets, and tensions rise. In a world that’s conquered death, will humanity finally be torn asunder by the immortal beings it created? Citra and Rowan have disappeared. Endura is gone. It seems like nothing stands between Scythe Goddard and absolute dominion over the world scythedom. With the silence of the Thunderhead and the reverberations of the Great Resonance still shaking the earth to its core, the question remains: Is there anyone left who can stop him?

I can only recommend the Scythe series!
Revisado: 03-14-22
What an ending! I must say, I have a love/hate relationship with The Toll. I wish so many things went differently... Neal broke my heart, crushed my expectations, yet I feel hopeful for those who survived this adventure, or should I say ordeal?
I don't want to give anything away, so I'll leave with applauding the amazing storytelling, character arcs, and beautiful performance... It's an extraordinary tale and I find the amount of emotion this book managed to arouse in me to be a testament to that.

Revisado: 01-27-22
I didn't know much about the book when I started it. Just a word of recommendation from a friend and a few vague information. I LOVED IT! I listened to it in almost one go and can't wait for moving onto the second book.
At first, I thought I won't be able to relate to the main characters, seeing how they are teenagers dealing with their first big step in life, but boy, was I wrong. It's an amazingly crafted story. I loved the arc of both of the main characters but the moral dilemma Rowan had to deal with cut deeper. I myself am not sure what kind of person he became and I think that's wonderful. He's so complex, I wanna clap. I would recommend it to any sci-fi/dystopian lover out there!
Also Mr. Tremblay did a spectacular job!

This was one hell of a ride! An amazing book you won't be able to pause. The narrator did fabulous job. Sawyer came off a bit annoying through the performance but her character was a tad that way so it worked out well.
The main character has a beautiful arc and all the villains were three dimensional and unique (we are talking high security prison, there were bad guys everywhere). I very much enjoyed it and would recommend it to any thriller junkie out there.

Even better experience with Jenna Hanchey
Revisado: 08-10-21
I've read this story before and I was delighted to see it on audible. I fell in love with Daphne and the whole series and I couldn't wait to listen to it.
About the narrator:
Jenna's narration beautifully underlines the post-apocalyptic mood. I thought about how to describe it accurately and I would compare her performance to a symphony. She plays with the pace and tone of her voice accordingly to what is happening in the story. Her tempo slows and picks up. Her voice changes from soft and light to strong and fierce. There is a different feel to where she moves the story along, when there are descriptions, inner thoughts, dialogues... and all the pieces together make a perfect composition.
As I said, I loved this story before, but with Jenna, I was given an even better experience.
About the story:
The Beginning of the End tells a story about just that, the beginning of the End of the world as we know it. We first meet Daphne when the epidemic starts. A horrible disease is spreading all around the world but Daphne doesn't seem to be affected. Why? She doesn't know and she wants answers.
I love following Daphne on this journey and I am looking forward to hopefully listening to the rest of the series here.
