I always feel like I’m in good hands with Ishiguro. Mysterious, sweet, and engrossing storytelling. At first, I thought the narrator was a little stiff, and then I realized that she was actually doing a Siri-like voice for the AI main character, which was perfect. The other voices she did were great. The only reason I’m not giving this five stars is because I don’t think I would read it again, but I really enjoyed it the first time around.

My Depression / Breakup First Aid Kit

I have listened to this book on three separate occasions in times when I have been in crisis and it never disappoints. I hear different things each time that help me on my way depending on where I'm at in life. I highly recommend this book for anyone who struggles with depression, grief, or heartache as a resource to return to again and again.

Beautiful, illuminating, heartbreaking, galvanizing. As a white woman, hearing a first-person narrative of a father speaking from his heart and through his experiences to his son about what it means to be Black and have a Black body in this country is something invaluable.

A Classic

Every time I experience heartbreak or grief I return to this talk and I always get something new out of it. Each time I listen I get better at holding space and staying with the pain so that it can transform in some way. It actually gives me a reason to be grateful for feelings I would otherwise deem unbearable. This is an essential teaching for those who want to take their hardest times along with them on their spiritual path and grow.

I mean, it's Trixie and Katya

This book is exactly what you think it will be. Smart, hilarious, ridiculous. The reading of it is a little awkward -- toward the beginning Katya sounds like she might have a cold and then there are parts where there reading what was originally a conversation between the two of them and it sounds a little acted and contrived. But none of that is annoying or distracting enough to overshadow the delight that is this comedic pair. I will watch, read, listen to any material they put out ever. The end.

just a delightful listen. she doesn't necessarily say anything groundbreaking, it's a lot of feminism, boundaries, and spirituality 101. but the queer love story and her personal take on everything is uniquely hers and thoroughly nourishing and entertaining throughout. balm for the soul in these trying times.

Even Better Than I Was Expecting

I knew I was gonna like this book, but his delivery was stunning and the story was simultaneously heart wrenching and hilarious. I very literally laughed and cried throughout. JVN is a national treasure.
