Historia
Since its release in 1949, The Hero with a Thousand Faces has influenced millions of readers by combining the insights of modern psychology with Joseph Campbell's revolutionary understanding of comparative mythology. In this book, Campbell outlines the Hero's Journey, a universal motif of adventure and transformation that runs through virtually all of the world's mythic traditions. He also explores the Cosmogonic Cycle, the mythic pattern of world creation and destruction.

Very Important Work
Revisado: 02-03-25
Conceptually I truly appreciate what Joseph Campbell sought to do with this piece of work. My only complaint is that it reads as a product of its time, which is also in part a criticism of myself, as it was tough to get through at points.

Man AM I Glad I Found This Series
Revisado: 11-13-22
I will say one bad thing and then profess my love for this book: I was expecting a much larger final boss battle. That said, the rest of the book was still beautifully balanced. In fact, I don't even really mind the short final battle, because so much happened anyways (including the cliff-hanger) that it is actually a bit of a welcome surprise!

Historia
Through compelling narrative, historian Eric Berkowitz reveals how drastically censorship has shaped our modern society. More than just a history of censorship, Dangerous Ideas illuminates the power of restricting speech; how it has defined states, ideas, and culture; and (despite how each of us would like to believe otherwise) how it is something we all participate in.

I had to come back to it on a couple occasions but overall I am glad I stayed with it. There were a few lessons that really resonated with me towards the end that helped me power through. Now I hope I can put some of these lessons to use!

Historia
The fruit of the long history of John Brockman's profound engagement with the most important scientific minds who have been thinking about AI - from Alison Gopnik and David Deutsch to Frank Wilczek and Stephen Wolfram - Possible Minds is an ideal introduction to the landscape of crucial issues AI presents. The collision between opposing perspectives is salutary and exhilarating; some of these figures are deeply concerned with the threat of AI, including the existential one, while others have a very different view.

Revisado: 12-17-17
this was an amazing story that set itself apart from the normal material I consume. I tried the book on a recommendation from a friend and although sometimes it felt like a commitment, the story was beautifully written; it was a type of poetry I didn't know I was missing.
