Excellent!

I don’t usually write reviews but I just have to express my awe of the actors in telling this story of one of the many black communities sold “out from under” for a highway or a mall. The acting was so real that I could hear & feel the pain that each person had in their souls, especially Blair Underwood!

Bad Narator

I usually don’t write many reviews but I had to for this book. Kareem Abdul-Jabar is a very good writer but I was barely able to follow along with the storyline & who said this or that! I was not able to tell who was saying what because most of the voices were the same, especially Sherlock & Mycroft.
I wanted so much to like this book & with a different narrator I probably would.

The audio is uneven

I enjoyed the story & I found it very engaging.
The narrator was very good but the audio sounds went from even tone to very low whisper to loud.
I returned the book because of that & also mainly because Audible does not carry the sequels. I should have checked that out before buying.

Don’t waste your time!

I rarely write reviews but this book was so bad that I just have to.

The narrator is horrible! She reads as if she is reading a bedtime story to children. Her intonations have nothing to do with the words being read. I can’t tell if the story is any good because her voice just drones on & on. I just can’t say enough bad things about this pick for a narrator so I’ll just quit.

Wonderful Story!!

I love, love, love this story. Yes! You do have to pay attention, this is not the type of listen you can tune in & out of. But once you do the story just flows from quite a few stories into one, then diverges in & out.
This is 1 of the best books that I have read in quite a while. I did enjoy the narrator except for when his tone became stilted & he lost track of which voice to use.
This is Ms Morgenstern’s 2nd book & both of them are an excellent read which can send you dreaming.

Audio Problems

I really enjoyed this story but because of the audio issues I feel like I didn’t catch as much as I could of the interviews of suspects.
The audio kept going from normal to low depending on the speaker which made for a disjointed listen.

The End

I absolutely love this series & to me this book has the perfect ending & a new beginning! I am not so crazy about the narrators mistakes of not remembering the correct voices for each character, but I have to think about how many people there were & forgive them.
Excellent series & well worth the 14 credits.

New Discovery

I am so glad that I discovered Margaret Atwood before she became so popular lately. I loved, loved, loved this book. The style of writing & also the narrator was perfect. I plan on reading all of her other books.
