If I could give this story more than five stars, I would. Seriously, from the very beginning, I was emotionally invested.

Ella is a single mother to twins and runs a B&B. Her brother is in the military and deployed with a special unit. She asked if there was someone who needed “a little extra mail,” and her brother told her about Chaos. The two become pen pals and exchange letters.

When Ella’s brother dies, he asks his best friend Beckett (Chaos) to leave the Army and look after his sister. Ella doesn’t know that Beckett and Chaos are the same person—she assumes Chaos died with her brother.

I knew this book was going to pull on my heartstrings, but nothing could have prepared me for this.


I listened to the audiobook, and I can’t help but wonder how many takes it took Teddy Hamilton and Jennifer Stark to nail some of these chapters! They did an amazing job!

Mafia with strong female character

Cira has lived underground all her life. When her caretaker never returns, she must work up the courage to leave all she’s ever known. As she’s leaving, she hears several men coming to get her. One mentions doing unthinkable things to her. All she’s ever known is abuse, but instead of hiding, she uses the skills she’s learned and fights for her life. It turns out her secret is out, and the men were sent to capture a gold dragon living underground. The first batch of men were not the only ones sent to retrieve her. Unbeknownst to Isaac, Alex, and Ronan, Cira is their mate. Together, they must protect her while Cira learns what she is and how to become who she is meant to be.

I do feel like this story could have been longer. Throughout the story, small details were mentioned, but the author didn’t go into as much detail as they could have, which, in my opinion, would have made the story more interesting.
