Historia
Grace Jenkins has had little experience with men - feeling too awkward and insecure to free the passionate woman inside her. But that hasn't stopped her from dreaming about Noah Harper. Gorgeous, strong, and darkly sexy, his rough edge beneath the polish promises no mercy in the bedroom. It’s ok
Revisado: 07-07-19
It’s a good enough story if you’re searching for something steamy with a happily every after. I found that Noah was a bit of an entitled jerk and I found myself wishing Grace would have more of a backbone at times. But, as I said, happily ever after.

Wonderful. Definitely pulls at all the emotions
Revisado: 04-30-17
I absolutely loved this book. I first saw the movie when it came out in theaters, not knowing what to expect. When I realized it was on Audible I knew I had to get it. For starters, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the movie was actually spot on with the book.
Now from there! This book... I will say it's probably not for the faint of heart - or for those who don't want to think too hard, I suppose. Nothing especially gruesome, but it can get pretty intense. It's emotional. There's joy, love, laughter, hope, anger, and sadness. There's also the exploration of your own morals and beliefs in addition to the ethical concerns. I admit it: I cried. And not many stories will get me to do that.
Me Before You is an absolute stunner, exploring the concepts of love, death, and what it truly means to be alive. I wholeheartedly recommend this, and intend to buy it in print and for viewing in very short order. Because it's just that wonderful.

Historia
On the morning of December 22, 2005, New York City firefighter Matt Long was cycling to work when he was struck by and sucked under a 20-ton bus making an illegal turn. The injuries he sustained pushed him within inches of death. Miraculously, after five months in the hospital and more than 40 operations, Matt was able to start his recovery. This book chronicles Matt's road to recovery as he teaches himself to walk again and, a mere three years later, to run in the 2008 New York City Marathon.

Amazing... Inspirational, awe-inspiring
Revisado: 04-09-17
If you could sum up The Long Run in three words, what would they be?
Heart-warming. Tough. Real.
What did you like best about this story?
I tell you what, I had about an hour and a half left in Matt's story, about him trying to run again and regain *him*, and as his story continued I logged onto my Amazon account, and I ordered another hard copy - but not for me. I ordered it for a couple I used to work with, where the husband had beaten cancer and had to learn to walk again, to train his muscles and deal with the issues that came with his nerves and just being able to live again. Not just trying to gain some semblance of who he was before, but trying to grow even after all of the difficulties and adjust to who he is in the present. And while this was an amazing story, I think THAT is what stood out to me the most - connecting his journey to people I care about, as opposed to not being able to relate any part of it to my own life.
Which character – as performed by Matthew Del Negro – was your favorite?
Matt, for sure
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely. Of course there were things like work that got in the way ;) But while running errands, during my commute, and while working out? Definitely got it in.
Any additional comments?
Fantastic book, absolutely awe-inspiring. I've owned a hard copy of the book for a while (see: almost 3 years), but I finally decided to listen to it on audible - after having it for probably a year. I don't know why I finally got around to it, but I don't regret it for a minute. As a (really slow) runner, and a human being, you appreciate Matt's struggles. You cheer for him, you empathize with him, and at times you want to cry with him. While his exact struggles may not be easy to relate to, there are a number of moments in his story that you find yourself connect to, in some way, shape, or form - one of the big ones for me, I mean the REALLY big ones, was him talking about the impact of 9/11 on his life and the lives of those he loves. And it all serves to give you a big picture of what he "lost", but also what he gained.

Great story!
Revisado: 10-31-16
I've listened to regency-era historical romance novels previously and have cringed at how they were done (one where I only got maybe 5 minutes in by sheer force of will!), but I must say that this one was a pleasant surprise. There were a only a couple words that surprised me with their pronunciation during the story (for example: valet), but this was one where the overall performance was so well-done that in the end those few things didn't bother me. It was easy to just get lost in the story of Pauline and Griff. To make matters even more difficult when it comes to pleasing me, I already owned and had read the book before buying the audiobook, which means I'd had my own mindset of how things were supposed to go. I would definitely recommend Eva Kaminsky as a narrator, and I wholeheartedly love Tessa Dare, so I'm quite content with this :)

Revisado: 09-24-16
I know it's a good story - I've read it before and own most of the Banks family stories for Kindle. But the narration was absolutely terrible. I tried to stick it out, but after less than 10 minutes I seriously contemplated getting back my $1.99 for it.

Decent story, annoying narrator
Revisado: 03-19-16
I should probably start by saying that I do own the hard copy of this book. I enjoyed reading it, and I've already preordered the final book in The Selection series, The Crown.
That said, Princess Eadlyn is a spoiled brat. And I think that is probably what makes this so enjoyable - because as the book progresses we are able to see her grow and become more of an adult and a better future queen. But you can tell she's been spoiled and sheltered from many things her whole life.
I absolutely cannot wait for the last book, because there's no telling who she will end up with or what will happen. Frankly, we're able to see so many of the good things about so many different members of Eadlyn's Selection (and even one who's not) that it makes it difficult to settle on one potential prince consort/husband for Eadlyn.
Now as for the narration... I wasn't especially impressed. I really just wasn't. All of the sharp intakes of breath between sentences that the same character is speaking... It was basically by sheer willpower that I didn't give up on this book. At one point I remarked to my husband that my ears wanted to bleed because of all of the sharp intakes. It's not a bad story, and with my schedule it's more convenient for me to listen to it right now than it is to reread it. And while Brittany didn't do a bad job of acting out different characters, it definitely left something to be desired when she was voicing the guys.

The closer America gets to the crown, the more she struggles to figure out where her heart truly lies. Powerful
Revisado: 03-12-16
Just as a heads up, if you haven't read or listened to The Selection first, that certainly needs to be done before checking out The Elite. It continues to be a wonderful series. We see a heroine who is brave and strong but not perfect. This book helps everything continue to fall into place.
I'd completely forgotten about the major scene with Marlee until listening to this book. In that scene you find out just about everything you need to know about the character of pretty much everyone and the drive/control involved, and it's emphasized greatly throughout the book. Be prepared for some surprises - of course there's the expected love triangle and issues with rebellion, but in this book we get to find out that it's so much deeper than that, and that the characters are so much less fickle than they at first appear. The story and narration are, yet again, phenomenal. I'm looking forward to reading/listening to The One yet again.

For 35 girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime: the opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth... to be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels... to live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her, and leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want.

Engaging story and performance
Revisado: 03-11-16
Fond of dystopian societies and romance? This is a good blend of the two with just a bit of action/excitement thrown in. There are some parts that are obvious (hello, there's no series if she gets sent home), but there are a few nice surprises tucked in with America's spunky, genuine personality.
I wasn't quite sure how much I would like the audiobook version, but I'm really glad I decided to take a chance on it. Kiera Cass has a wonderful series here and, though I've read it before, it's enjoyable enough to read again - and enough that the audiobook was worth it. Amy Rubinate's performance was great. The performance was enough that I could really visualize what was going on, but I didn't get the feeling that she was overacting. There are some narrators that you can't wait to be done with, but Amy's performance was soothing and engaging all at once.

Until five years ago, Alexandra Heminsley was decidedly not a runner. Nor was she athletic in any sense of the word. She was an ordinary, curvy woman who was convinced that sports of any kind, especially running, were beyond her. But she's made running part of her life, and gets to reap the rewards: not just the obvious things, like a touch of weight loss, health and glowing skin, but self-belief, and immeasurable daily pleasure.

Hilarious and relatable
Revisado: 03-06-16
Absolutely love this book! I have the hard copy of Running Like a Girl, and was excited to try out the audiobook. There are some running books that are all about the facts. Those are nice, but this feels (and is!) so much more personable than that. You can envision what is going on in the book like you're right there. I found myself laughing with her hijinks, shaking my head as I remembered the first time I ever wore a garbage bag for a race, feeling her frustration in dealing with rude, snooty sales associates, and in general nodding along and smiling because it was like she just GOT me. As a runner I love the knowledge that I'm not alone in all that I've experienced, whether I'm a 3-hour or 6-hour marathoner. Even if I wasn't a runner, I'd imagine it would still be a rather enjoyable read - or listen, in this case. I was quite pleased with Elizabeth Sastre's performance - she seemed to enjoy it, rather than some narrators that sound as though they're hating life. Sastre was an excellent choice of narrator.
The only thing I could've done without was the hour of Q&A at the end of the book, but it wasn't painful or anything.

Great short stories, ok performance
Revisado: 02-27-16
I love the stories. I bought them to read on the Kindle app, and just enjoyed them. When I saw that "15 Shades of Pink" was available on Audible I knew I had to have it! That said... I'm less than impressed with the performance. Considering Tamara did 15 short stories and was distinguishing between each character it wasn't bad, but I can't say I preferred it. It wasn't horrible, though, hence the willingness to buy the title despite having listened to the sample.
