Fully developed characters and unusual slant
Revisado: 12-08-23
I liked the character development throughout. The viewpoint of balanced characters - none wholly good or wholly evil - had me wondering which way they would go. The preternatural world has more than a few tired tropes, but the author nicely plays about with them and puts some fresh angles in. I'm ready for the next book, which just came out a few days ago. :)

Stories of the Odd bunch are unique in the genre
Revisado: 01-13-23
I've enjoyed the whole series of Sophie and the Odd bunch. It strays from genre boundaries in a good and fresh way. Strong female protagonists, men who aren't afraid to kiss or kill those strong women, and unique characters with rare skill sets. Can't wait to see what comes out of Gwen DeMarco next.

Great tips for behavior modification
Revisado: 12-22-22
This was actually a recommendation from my Doctor. Glad I could find it on audiobook, although I still need to download the accompanying PDF. Dr. Fogg makes change seem easier, and walks through every step for modifying your own behavior, and even how to apply the principles to your family or work team. I'm already incorporating some of it in my own life, which is easier than you would think. It all makes sense, is laid out in layman's terms, including explanations for how it works and why. I do recommend it for those looking to make adjustments in their lives. Losing weight, eating right, flossing regularly, etc.

Historia
Rogue agent Zoey Blackwood is having the time of her life traveling the world and evading the CIA’s capture. Her wisecracking humor keeps things light, but her mission is no joke: save millions of innocent lives that the US considers expendable in the wake of a deadly virus. Giving away the vaccine’s top-secret formula when the government plans to sell it lands her squarely on the CIA’s most-wanted list. CIA Agent Peyton North’s mission is simple: apprehend Zoey and return her to headquarters.

Wooden reading, but a good story
Revisado: 09-30-22
Monotonous reading, but the story was really good. The same inflections for every sentence, no matter what was happening, was distracting. With another narrator, this would have been a great Audible.

Fictional characters with real personalities
Revisado: 08-07-22
I have enjoyed both books in this series thus far. The storyline is fresh, the characters are far from wooden caricatures, and the plot has just enough twists to keep you on your toes.
I do recommend reading the books in order, to best follow the characters as they are introduced, and get max benefit of the backstories of each. For those looking for a good story without squirming, there is sex, but not gratuitous, and tastefully done.
Overall, I'm enjoying this series.
For Gwen DeMarco, thank for the note at the end, letting us know you read the reviews. Reviews are important for authors and their publishers, and we Audible listeners sometimes tend toward the easy way of reviewing, dropping stars without leaving any text saying why. So thanks for the reminder that the reviews matter.

When first listening to this story, I thought the plot transparent. However, there were enough surprises to make it very enjoyable. If there are sequels, I'd be interested in seeing where the story goes next.
