Soon after experiencing a personal tragedy, Kestrel witnesses a terrorist attack and is drawn into a world of conspiracies and lies that she and Jordan, her Artificial, have to untangle. With a second, more brutal attack looming on the horizon, their best chance of stopping it is teaming up with federal counterterrorism agent Nick Vernon.

Who is the father?
Revisado: 10-18-19
Steven James delivers another gripping novel but leaves one major question unanswered: who is the father of the child? All the way through the book, I kept asking that obvious question, but the futuristic setting of artificial intelligence presents a host of questions that will keep me thinking for a while.
Jordan is a superior character in more ways than one. Therese Plummer's narration is new to me but she did a fabulous job. Much better than most female narrators in my opinion.
I was compelled to rate this book five stars in spite of the fatherless child... but it drives me nuts! Who is the father? How did a female preacher explain her pregnancy? How did her flock receive that information? Those questions are enough to knock my rating down a little but I couldn't. The rest of the book was good enough to make up for it. I certainly recommend Synapse. Different. Exciting. Compelling.

Historia
John Barrett, anchorman for News Six at Five, has a problem. He's caught his producer skewing a story to suit her own prejudices, then lying to cover her tracks. The "accidental" death of John's father is also now in question, after the father's controversial testimony. And a young girl has been murdered, and John is the only one who can prove it.

GREAT character driven book
Revisado: 10-10-19
A fascinating book, dampened somewhat by extraneous and boring details of the news industry. Still, the tremendous research proved to be intriguing. As compared to most of his novels, the plot creeps in the beginning but takes on life as characters build and fade beneath his golden pen. Two things keep me from rating the book as a 5-star read - voluminous news details not pertinent to the story and the total absence of the governor's wife's involvement throughout family tragedy. On the other hand, Peretti's sheer genius stirs every passion in my heart and culminates with an awesome tenderness that creates an unforgettable ending. I can't wait to see what he writes next.

A young policeman learns more than he wants...
Revisado: 10-13-17
If there was an explanation given on why Alice is called Replacement, I missed it, and the question continually comes to my mind. Who or what is she replacing? But she is a fascinating character and I love her. When will Jack see she's perfect for him? This is a cool story with lots of mystery to keep the reader coming back for more. Makes me scared to look into my own past. Loved the book, but the swearing added nothing. Deborah Owen, Creative Writing Institute

Revisado: 10-13-17
I like the pun in the title. This story just keeps unfolding, all the way to the end, which keeps the suspense high and the interest peaked. Well worth the read. Deborah Owen, Creative Writing Institute.com

Revisado: 10-13-17
I found the scenario much too believable and definitely scary. If you want a vision of the future, read this series. The book hooked me. I am now beginning the third one. I feel like I'm there with them, voting on life and death matters and judging their choices. Good job, Mark. Deborah Owen, Creative Writing Institute.com

A pleasant story with an unfolding mystery...
Revisado: 10-13-17
I felt let down at the end of the story. I don't want to give it away so I won't go into details. The scattered pages left a nice touch but the ending would have been stronger if the main part had been retrieved. Pleasant and thought provoking. Deborah Owen, Creative Writing Institute

Plenty of swearing but no foul language...
Revisado: 10-13-17
I like Greyson's books. Plenty of excitement, humor and suspense, but the swearing ruins it for me. No foul language, but still, if you aren't used to it, it just ruins the story. It doesn't take bad language to make a plotline come together. I've never known an author who lost readers because their books did not contain swearing, but I've known a few who lost some because they included it. Deborah Owen, Creative Writing Institute

Lighthearted fantasy rests & entertains your mind
Revisado: 10-13-17
What a refreshing story which I totally bought by accident. The story was interesting and catchy but lighthearted for the most part. Suspenseful in places. To me, the magic of the entire story was the relationship between the dragons and their masters. Congratulations on a great book! Deborah Owen, Creative Writing Institute

This write is talented, but...
Revisado: 09-25-17
What did you like best about The New Rulebook Series, Books 1-3? What did you like least?
The love affair was tastefully handled and the story was good enough to hold my attention but, I'm sorry, I couldn't handle the narration.
What other book might you compare The New Rulebook Series, Books 1-3 to and why?
N/A
What didn’t you like about Andrea Tuszynski’s performance?
The reading was like an adult reading to a child. Little to no expression. Monotone in places. Little change of voices in characters.
Was The New Rulebook Series, Books 1-3 worth the listening time?
No.
Any additional comments?
I would really like to work with this author. The story line was decent although the plot was weak, but I see talent in this writer. If she can break a few bad habits, she has a promising career. Deborah Owen, Creative Writing Institute
