Good But One Glaring Problem
Revisado: 04-02-25
This is a generally well-written, interesting, and engaging book—action packed and for the most part believable- with one glaring exception: why oh why do authors continue to have their characters, all of whom should know better, put pistols into the waistband of their pants?? Not just once, but repeatedly throughout this book. NO ONE, and I repeat, NO ONE who routinely carries a pistol would EVER stick it in their pants, at least not without an inside-the-waistband holster. 1) It is unstable and will probably fall out. 2) If it doesn't fall out, it will probably fall IN - that is, into your pants. 3) It will probably get snagged on something as you draw it. 4) There is a good chance you will blow your balls off. 5) It is REALLY uncomfortable, especially if you put it in the small of your back as our hero also supposedly does. It sounds really "cool" to hide your gun in the small of your back, but go try it. Really, go try it, and then try to sit down and drive a car. Or sit down anywhere other than a backless barstool. You'll be going straight to your chiropractor! It hurts like hell, and it is not at all convenient to draw! I think any author who writes about a character who carries a pistol should wear one for a day or two BEFORE they start the first paragraph.. Jason Trapp is otherwise a really good and believable character. But the character as developed in this book would NEVER be stupid enough to stick a loaded pistol into his waistband and then go into battle against bad guys. Nope---sorry---no way. If you have the resources to get your hands on a pistol, you can also get your hands on a holster.

Historia
It’s the night shift worker who finds them. Huddled in a hospital store cupboard is elderly Edith Higgins. Knifed to death. Sitting behind her is Staff Nurse Lily Frampton, a scalpel clasped in her blood-soaked hand. No one can understand why this kind-hearted, dedicated nurse would brutally murder a frail patient she’s spent months caring for. That same day, mild-mannered schoolteacher Rod Black is found surrounded by the battered bodies of his pupils. Why would a well-respected teacher beat five schoolboys to death?

just couldn't follow
Revisado: 03-29-25
I really wanted to like this book. I love the author and her other works but I just could not follow the story as hard as I tried. about a third of the way in I just had to stop because I realized in spite of having listened to every word up until that point I really had no idea what the story was about. I'm sorry I hate to give a bad review to an author who really tried hard but this didn't make it.

The Real Anthony Fauci details how Fauci, Gates, and their cohorts use their control of media outlets, scientific journals, key government and quasi-governmental agencies, global intelligence agencies, and influential scientists and physicians to flood the public with fearful propaganda about COVID-19 virulence and pathogenesis, and to muzzle debate and ruthlessly censor dissent.

Great book horrible narrator
Revisado: 12-28-24
This was an incredibly well researched and documented book. sometimes a bit too detailed and dry but nevertheless so well annotated with source material that it is extremely compelling. The narrator on the other hand sounds like he is semicomatose. his droning monotone voice makes you want to suck down an energy drink just to stay awake. nevertheless, the material is so important that I stuck it out and I'm glad I did. to the publisher, please don't ever use this narrator again for anything other than an auditory sleeping pill.

Historia
In this book, Riley scrutinizes the perspectives of athletes on the opposing side of this debate, deconstructing their arguments with science, facts, and logic. She also asks what has happened to free speech and dissent in this country, where it now seems nearly impossible to have a well-reasoned debate. And in telling her story, Riley reveals what’s at stake if the truth-seekers remain silent about the injustices women face from radical agendas.

it took courage.
Revisado: 07-04-24
Who would have thought that it would actually take courage to state the obvious. There are men and there are women. Nevertheless , at this point in time it does. Congratulations to the author for putting everything on the line to take a righteous stand.

Historia
A soldier, former member of Congress, and a presidential candidate, Tulsi loves her country: "I answered the call of duty and took an oath, dedicating my life to supporting and defending those freedoms, both in uniform and in public office. I became a Democrat when I ran for office because I saw them as a party that stood up for the little guy and against the interests of big business and warmongers. I remained a Democrat for twenty years, albeit with an independent streak." Today that party is unrecognizable.

Surprisingly Good
Revisado: 10-22-23
I was really prepared to dislike this book. I only downloaded it because I like to read a series in order. When King got thrown in prison I honestly thought it was going to be one of those books where the protagonist is continually getting beat half to death and is struggling to survive, getting beat down every time he tries to get ahead. I should have known better. Not with this character. Good plot, lots of interesting twists. Well worth a listen. The whole series is.

Campy but fun
Revisado: 10-13-23
Ok, this is not Edgar Allen Poe, it's not even Wes Craven but just like the VW beetle is so incredibly ugly it starts to look attractive, this story is juvenile, simple and predictable to the point where it is actually kind of fun. I listened to this while sitting outside one evening in front of a nice campfire. In that environment, it was just right. give this series a try the next time you're camping.

As the recently installed leader of the Joshua Bravo team, Jedidiah Johnson shifts into covert operation mode to follow rumors of a new energy-based weapon able to incinerate a target―even a human target―with no warning. With the assistance of the CIA, Jed’s team deploys to Hong Kong to extract the Chinese scientist who helped develop the weapon.

Good As Usual
Revisado: 09-15-23
I wish I could have given 4.7 stars. So well researched for authenticity and then came the aircraft landing. Conservation of angular momentum has absolutely nothing to do with landing a plane. Linear momentum yes. Dissipation of energy yes. Angular momentum, no. And the author completely forgot about how planes stop. No auto-brakes, no manual brakes, not even reverse thrust. Yes, Jed would have gotten the plane on the ground. and then would have run off the end of the runway, through the airport perimeter fence and right into whatever lay beyond. Sorry, airliners don't stop themselves.

Too Unrealistic
Revisado: 09-06-23
First of all. I gave this 2 stars overall. not 5. Not sure why it shows 5! One of the things that makes a story engaging is the knowledge that just maybe it could possibly occur. There are too many aspects of the this story that are completely unrealistic. First of all, why do authors insist on writing stories that have squads of motorcycle riding killers with machine guns. The author has obviously never ridden a motorcycle nor fired a machine gun. It is hard enough to hold a fully automatic weapon Level when you are on firm ground with a good shooting stance. On a motorcycle, you would be shooting at the sky in a couple of seconds and flying off the motorcycle a few seconds later. And just how are the riders controlling the throttle which is part of the right hand grip? Is every one of them left-handed? So I guess they are never going to shift gears. Because the clutch is on the left hand grip. Nope! Sorry, that is a fail. How about the Japanese chip manufacturer Managing to get nanobots into the food of every single human being on Earth? Really?!And then being able to activate them remotely so that the people explode and turn to a pile ash in a couple of minutes. There are certain laws of thermodynamics that simply have to be obeyed. Sorry, not buying it. I could go on but it's like the author did absolutely no research whatsoever and just ascribed any magical properties he felt like to any character or device in the story whenever he felt like. If you want to see what this type of story is supposed to look like, read PREY by Michael Crichton.
