Historia
Her lips tasted like Cabernet and her touch was like fire. I was blinded by what she did to me. I so easily fell for something I thought I’d never have. I was weak for her and should’ve known better. I should’ve known she could never love a man like me. She brought out a side of me that I wish had stayed dead. I won’t make the same mistake twice. I don’t care how much she begs me. I don’t care that I crave her more than anything else.

Loved Jacob M. for Carter's narration!

The concept of this story is intriguing but can we talk about the female lead for a minute... (kind of, but not really, spoiler alert..?! rant begin!) - I do like these books tho..!
This girl is so annoying and confusing that I had to rate this 4 stars! It's a good book too. But the main male lead practically throws rose petals on the ground she walks on and she constantly doubts his affections because he doesn't say a certain 3 worded phrase. Don't get me wrong, everyone wants to hear it! I totally understand that but confront him about it then. She has the balls to deny or refuse his orders(amongst other things) but can't even ask if he loves her back?! And let's be honest, he's a butthead! He's no Prince Charming and that's because he's a mafia man!!! He's a anti-knight not one in shining silver armor! She complains throughout the e n t i r e book! And I'm not exaggerating!
Now, here's the whole "you're trying to kill my family" part.. What I don't get is that she grew up around the mafia setting but doesn't understand the male characters decision about killing her father- like really doesn't understand one bit. She is sheltered from the worst part of it all but gets the general idea of what happens behind closed doors. She says her father would never but she remembers him doing some sketchy crap. I would never want my father killed but she knows it's a kill or be killed world. How does she expect homie to not do anything to her father?! Especially when he's tried to kill Carter multiple times! Something has to happen.
And that ending tho!!!!?!?! Did she really just do that and think everything was going to be okay?? Like that didn't just happen??
Bless Carter's heart for still "loving" this woman.
After all that, if you can ride through all her "woe is me" (and even a little of his too) then you should STILL listen to this book! Jacob Morgan does a fantastic job- like always! But Savannah Peachwood definitely made her sound pretty pathetic with zero self esteem.. I hope that's what the author had in mind because all her chapters were like that in this book!
But let's just use this book as an informational bit for part 4, shall we? Let's keep reading/listening!
