I love Sean Barret's narration of The Drenai Saga by Gemmel..
so I went looking for something else narrated by him.
I like thecstory and then I thought I didn't like it, but I couldn't help wanting to know what Ralph Courtney was up to. Glad I stuck through the twists and turns. Looking forward to the next book.

Good but not Great Gemmel

Having read/listened to Drenai Saga multiple times, I had very high expectations for this series. At first I was annoyed by the fact that a woman was reading the story. I tend to prefer a man's voice, especially when I expect the majority of key players are going to be male. However, I was quite surprised and rather pleased with the reader. Her talent is genuine.
The stories are good overall in this series. I just finished StormRider, the Last book in the series. My review is of the series, I guess and not the one book. The depth of character building is not like that of the Drenai. Wayland and Druss are men to walk the mountains with, yet I am already forgetting details of Conavar.
To me, and this is my preference, I like the underdog, or unclean souls, making a stand for justice and winning the day. The stories are a little different in the Rigante.
I also found the stories, for the most part predictable, not completely, but it was easy to see where each step was going.
I also found that I was angry with the characters, like when Harry Potter, is whiney or not telling his best friends, that have always been there for him and helping him on his quest, that major, negative things are happy to him.
I like the characters in Storm Rider the best out of the series. But again, I feel like they are characters in a story. Waylander and Druss feel like old friends.

I truly love Waylander

I've truly enjoyed the books with Waylander the Slayer.
At the beginning, I wasn't sure that I liked the setting/ Mystical way this story was unfolding...silly me! The characters are delightful and the story brought about more emotional attachments to them then the previous Waylander stories.

Thought Provoking

Quite a lot to think about! Dr. Heiser gives us a slightly different view of the Biblical story than is often told. He speaks of the supernatural, the items that many like to gloss over dismiss. I am thankful that he is shedding light on these topics.

Nick Offerman for the Win!

I had no idea this book was so funny! Nick Offerman brought the characters to life for sure. My son has dyslexia and other tracking issues so half of his reading assignments are permitted to be audiobooks. He was sighing at the prospect of starting another book. However, once I started the book and he heard Nick Offerman's voice he was elated. He soon found that The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a very enjoyable story full of humor and mischief. He looked forward to listening to the story each day and we had many a laughs.

This book will make you look in the church mirror so to speak. Francis Chan has a way with writing so you are forced to take a look at yourself...here you are looking at yourself as a member of the church body, whatever your role may be...

A message worth hearing.

A much needed message on a touchy topic.
The writer reads the book...his voice sometimes sounds stretched...but that's just Francis Chan. Another thought provoking, easy to read, short book to make you check yourself.

Excellent story read excellently

I read this book about 20 years ago. I really enjoyed it then and many of the scenes replayed in my mind as I listened to the audio book as if though I just read them last month. The characters in the Drenai Saga are likable, even some of the unsavory ones...

Listen All the way to the very end!

This was a great listen. This book goes through things we should know but don't bother to apply. It is nicely adorned with fascinating tod bits of history. The postscript was every bit as valuable as the content of the book.
This book will encourage you to be more stable minded and better well read!
