Grossly dishonest, delusional, and deranged
Revisado: 08-05-23
The author may once have been intelligent, but anger has made him irrational and hate has, apparently, destroyed his ability to reason. This is not an analysis of history: it’s a rage-filled polemic whose only discernible purpose is to enrage gullible readers and suppress their intellects. To dismantle every dishonest argument would take more space than a review allows, and would not change the minds of any of the already deluded and enraged readers,
So much of this book is delusion and disinformation hiding behind the most basiof rhetorical trickery. Horowitz is not wrong about every single fact. But fifteen percent has never been a passing mark.

Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

This is the most fun read I have had in a long while.

Historia
Having entered the British Navy at the age of 12, Horatio Lord Nelson achieved the rank of captain at the age of 20. As captain, he was quickly recognized as a magnetic and controversial figure. He triumphed at Cape St. Vincent and the Nile, but failed at Tenefife and Boulogne. With the glories of Copenhagen and Trafalgar yet ahead of him, his ardent passion for Emma Hamilton, the wife of a British Ambassador, cast a heavy shadow over his career.

A book of its time, but…
Revisado: 08-30-22
Certainly of interest to those deeply interested in the history. It certainly shows its age as a work of literature, but it could have been made listenable. Unfortunately the narration is so wretchedly pompous that, almost from the beginning, it had me rooting for the French. I cannot recommend it.

Historia
Bill Masen, bandages over his wounded eyes, misses the most spectacular meteorite shower England has ever seen. Removing his bandages the next morning, he finds masses of sightless people wandering the city. He soon meets Josella, another lucky person who has retained her sight, and together they leave the city, aware that the safe, familiar world they knew a mere 24 hours before is gone forever. But to survive in this post-apocalyptic world, one must survive the Triffids, strange plants that years before began appearing all over the world.

A classic, and well produced
Revisado: 01-26-22
The book is a classic, and a very good piece of early post-apocalyptic science fiction. It’s well-performed, though I (with no expertise in this at all) would probably have chosen a slightly more literate, educated sounding accent. It definitely has the sound of a reading rather than a storytelling. On the other hand, it’s a memoir written in the first person, and actually works well presented this way.
Definitely Recommended.

Excellent production
Revisado: 07-16-20
The book is very good, but the narration really shines. Maslany has captured the nuance of Katniss’ internal monologue and wry humor beautifully. Her voicing of the characters is consistent and interesting. It’s a brilliant performance.: well-read and well-acted.

A great rendition of a classic
Revisado: 02-19-19
This book was a delight when it was first published, and this reading of it is excellent. Good pacing, accurate pronunciation, and not over-acted as so many audiobooks are. Mr Rudnicki’s performance is great. Highly recommended.
