Historia
The much-anticipated daily "reading" version of The Message in audio format is finally here. Designed for individuals as well as small groups, The Daily Message combines Discipleship Journal's renowned book-at-a-time reading plan with a flexible format that allows the listener to go through the Bible in one year or spread out the listening with an alternate two-year plan. This version provides monthly plans for 26 readings, and allows for reflection time, minimizing frustration.

An engaging paraphrase for discussion
Revisado: 04-30-25
1) I enjoyed the narrator; 2)I like immersive reading so also have the kindle edition of this. 3)this could be better with syncing the kindle and audible.
In the back of the Kindle, there is an appendix that gives the readings of the different dates which is helpful. Also, I found the audible chapters are in multiples of 5, I.e., chapter 5 is day 20, Chapter 6 is day 25, etc.

Historia
Set in the pre-Christian world of Glome on the outskirts of Greek civilization, it is a tale of two princesses: the beautiful Psyche, who is loved by the god of love himself, and Orual, Psyche's unattractive and embittered older sister, who loves Psyche with a destructive possessiveness. Her frustration and jealousy over Psyche's fate sets Orual on the troubled path of self-discovery. Lewis's last work of fiction, this is often considered his best by critics.

It was fortunate that I was ignorant of the plot and the Greek mythology origins. I’m in awe and will be pondering the deeper meanings for a while.

I don’t want to say too much for fear of spoiling the experience for other listeners. The story was intriguing, the narration easy to enjoy.

Historia
Night is one of the masterpieces of Holocaust literature. First published in 1958, it is the autobiographical account of an adolescent boy and his father in Auschwitz. Elie Wiesel writes of their battle for survival and of his battle with God for a way to understand the wanton cruelty he witnesses each day. In the short novel Dawn (1960), a young man who has survived World War II and settled in Palestine joins a Jewish underground movement and is commanded to execute a British officer who has been taken hostage.

I purchased the audio accompaniment to the kindle book. The narrator was good, and although the content is good, it isn’t well suited to an audio book. I would recommend getting the written version.

A story about a person’s experience w/mentally intrusive thoughts in an interesting story
Revisado: 01-28-23
The performance was excellent. The book was recommended to me and I had no idea about the content or story line. As a NP, I’ve seen, treated, and referred clients. This story depicted in a first person vignette in a powerful way what it must feel like to have obsessive and intrusive thoughts leading to actions that result in a feeling of hopelessness and helplessness and a path she found to better functionality. If you or someone you care about struggles, this might be encouraging or discouraging, depending on where one is at in one’s journey.

Why are modern Christians so indistinguishable from everyone else? How come Christians who lived in times of bloody persecution were so heroic, while we who live in safety are not? How could the first Christians fast valiantly, but we feel deprived without dessert? How did New Testament believers pray without ceasing? How could the early Christian martyrs actually forgive their torturers? What did the Christians of the first centuries know that we don't? This book explores these questions.
