Historia
Johnnie Roane returns from four years of military service in World War II to his wife, Glory. They had been married just a year when he left Lennox, Connecticut, where both their families live and work. In his taxi ride home, Johnnie receives foreboding hints that all has not been well in his absence. Eager to mend his fraying marriage, Johnnie attempts to cajole Glory to recommit to their life together. But something sinister has taken place during the intervening years - an infidelity that has not gone unnoticed in the superficially placid New England town.

Historia
In this classic best seller, Florence Scovel Shinn helped to define the personal success genre. Written in the new thought tradition, her message is simple yet transformative - we receive back what we put into the world through our actions, energy, and attitudes. Negativity and pessimism are returned in kind, but by switching the script in favor of positive attitudes and affirmations, we are able to manifest success and joy in everything we do. Life, Shinn tells us, is not a battle of us against the world, but rather a game of giving and receiving.

Nel and Sula's devotion is fierce enough to withstand bullies and the burden of a dreadful secret. It endures even after Nel has grown up to be a pillar of the black community and Sula has become a pariah. But their friendship ends in an unforgivable betrayal—or does it end? Terrifying, comic, ribald and tragic, Sula is a work that overflows with life.

I’m finding a connection in the words!
Revisado: 07-19-23
Toni Morrison speaks of Black pain as poetic and profound as Mahalia sings. I wonder what has she seen or heard to make her mentions morbid and is it true? It’s an awakening nonetheless. One of my most sacred freed ancestors.

Once I got past the uneasy listening of the narrator’s voice by, realizing the setting was the further future but not soul far off, I began to learn. I was taken on a journey of my own story written in a way to be consulted and consoled. Chapter 27 drew me in to solve the mystery but draw a map that was required to know and grow which I am truly grateful. Blood and intent! Asé.

Revisado: 02-18-23
I liked how everything was orchestrated and the ribbon as well. This format is always my jam. The theory of six degrees of separation at its best. I was most captivated by “the story that came before and after”. I invested even more. However, I feel that I am going to have to experience this in hard copy due to the numbers that was recited. That sounded random and I’m sure there was significance. I’m sure the voice shall live on forever.
