Character development amazing and addictive
Revisado: 06-09-24
This is one of my absolute favorite series of books—one of my top three, all entirely different. What draws me to a series is my affection and absorption in the characters, although there must also be plenty of plot. This entry in the series has do many interesting threads that until the very last few paragraphs the reader is discovering new twists and getting excited about future disclosures. Write fast please, Ms. Harris. I am on the edge of my seat!

I feel i know these characters personally!
Revisado: 05-02-24
The whole crew is back and for several of them there are difficult life challenges that get worked through but not totally resolved. All the better for a future chapter in the tale of DCI Logan and company! Thank heavens there are more threads to tie up and more personality traits to be revealed and more occurrences snd actions explained. I will be anxiously awaiting the next installment of this tale of policing in the Highlands.

Historia
When a cantankerous old woman dies at her home in the sleepy, picturesque village of Bamburgh, DCI Ryan doesn’t think much of it—except, that is, for the small matter of it having been his wife who happened to find her body. Then another body turns up amongst the sand dunes at the base of the mighty castle fortress, and he decides it can’t be a coincidence. Meanwhile, after a recent revelation about her sister, DC Melanie Yates’ quest to avenge her death is becoming an obsession—much to the concern of those around her.

Pretty silly, not much Ryan
Revisado: 01-26-23
I thought this was one of the weakest books in the series. Not much Ryan, lots about peripheral and much less charismatic characters. Plot thin and nor very believable. Very disappointed.

Very complex story, excellent narrator
Revisado: 01-07-23
I loved the whole production and have listened three times to get all of the nuances of the plot. I actually understood both main characters—flawed and somewhat headstrong people who find a work through of a tricky situation. Rosalyn Landor is always excellent.

Historia
For as long as she can remember, Jane Stuart and her mother have lived with her controlling grandmother in a dreary mansion in Toronto. Jane always believed her father was dead, so she was shocked to receive an invitation to stay with him for the summer on Prince Edward Island. But from their very first meeting, Jane fell in love with her charming father and his whimsical cottage. During her stay with him, she even found herself daring to dream that there could be such a house back in Toronto.

Not her best but not bad
Revisado: 01-01-23
If I could give 3 1/2 stars I would. I felt the story ended abruptly, with some loose threads not entirely resolved, especially some issues with family relations. The performance was fine but the editing, as others have said, was poor. I found it interesting but not riveting and I didn’t feel I understood the characters, except the evil grandmother, very well at all.

I really enjoyed it all—give it a try
Revisado: 07-22-22
Some disliked the female narrator and others thought it was too slow, or too sexy, or not historical enough. True, the female narrator has a rough voice for male characters, but no worse than lots of other female narrators. It was not slow—it just is a love story requiring time to develop, and all the sweeter as each revelation and milestone occurred. It was sexy in a good way, well-written steamy and loving scenes of a couple discovering each other. I enjoyed it and will read more from this author and in this series. I encourage those not afraid of “mature” themes to try this. You won’t learn history but it was set in a period setting and that added to it.

Historia
As a child, Devlin Ware thought his family stood for all that was right and good in the world. They were kind, gracious, and shared the beauty of Ravenwood, their grand country estate, by hosting lavish parties for the entire countryside. But at 22, he discovered his whole world was an elaborate illusion, and when Devlin publicly called his family to account for it, he was exiled as a traitor. So be it. He enlisted in the fight against Napoleon and didn't look back for six years. But now his father is dead, the Ware family is broken, and as the heir he is being called home.

Great beginning to a new family saga
Revisado: 07-20-22
I love Mary Balogh’s books and the characters she creates and build during a series. I can tell that the Ravenswood series will be no exception. No real angst, just human fears and understandable hesitance and worries on the part of well-meaning lovers—and when read by Rosalyn Landor the experience is soothing and comforting and absolutely lovely!

Too short too much sex two narrators not so great
Revisado: 06-29-22
Loved the other books in this series. Don’t mind steamy scenes but in this book and the last one in the series they were too drawn out. Two narrators was a distraction and jarring. Just felt like all this was was a “filler” profit-maker, not a real addition to the real thread of the series story arc.

Classic tale beautifully written and narrated
Revisado: 09-04-21
Georgette Heyer is one of a kind—the quintessential author of historical novels set in Regency England. This book is not as light-hearted as some of her others, but it is satisfying in its depth of characterization and interesting insights into the way Napoleon’s wars affected England. Phyllis a Nash is the perfect voice of Ms. Heyer’s books and she especially brings to life the heroine’s father, Jonathan Chawleigh. Take some time to relax and savor the mastery of both author and narrator of this fine book.
