Historia
Life for Dan Westridge used to be easy. Used to be. His father was once one of the richest men in the City of Sacramento. So what if his parents never had time for him? Made him work weekends and after school? Only allowed him to date the "right" kind of women? He still had a pretty easy life.

Well written and entertaining
Revisado: 04-10-21
There isn't anything in the story that stands out when compared with similar titles, but I don't get the feeling that it was intended to. It was written well and held a good pace. The narration was solid and added to the story. This was my first introduction to Jan Stryvant's work, but I'm now going to start the Valens series in hopes of more quality stories.

Historia
At last, the definitive audiobook about perhaps the best cabin crew dramedy ever filmed: View from the Top starring Gwyneth Paltrow. In Ayoade on Top, Richard Ayoade, perhaps one of the most 'insubstantial' people of our age, takes us on a journey from Peckham to Paris by way of Nevada and other places we don't care about. It's a journey deep within, in a way that's respectful and non-invasive; a journey for which we will all pay a heavy price, even if you've waited for the smaller paperback edition. Ayoade argues for the canonisation of this brutal masterpiece.

The book broke down a lot of the basics of law enforcement in a comprehensive and enjoyable manner. The author's anecdotes could serve as valuable additions to creating a three-dimensional character and give life to the department. I'm eagerly awaiting the second book.

Katherine Nichols knew she’d had too many drinks, but they were only going a short distance. “There’s no traffic anyway,” Eve had pointed out. And they'd had such a great night out, the two of them. Even now, driving them home and knowing she shouldn’t, seemed almost mischievous. All part of the fun. Not anymore.

Revisado: 08-22-19
With many things to love with this book, I almost hated it. The story was good and the characters were enjoyable, but there was so much showing exactly the same thing we already had chapters of. You can only hammer a nail so much before the entire house is a big pile of rubble. That largely happened here.

Historia
Twenty years ago, it was as if someone turned on a light. The future blazed into existence with each deliberate word that William Gibson laid down. The winner of Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards, Neuromancer didn't just explode onto the science fiction scene - it permeated into the collective consciousness, culture, science, and technology.Today, there is only one science fiction masterpiece to thank for the term "cyberpunk," for easing the way into the information age and Internet society.

Not worth the time or money
Revisado: 12-11-18
This seemed interesting, but quickly devolved into nothing more than an empty conspiracy theory that pulls from any source that seems to support it, but ignores any and all attempts to substantiate anything. To make it worse, the narration presents it in a way that makes it uninteresting to listen to.

Phenomenal, but not for a first time exposure.
Revisado: 08-03-18
The author is amazing and the narrators bring the characters to life, but it is too much of a great thing. The story has a lot of depth that gets confused by the skillful production. I think that it would be one of the best audiobooks for somebody already familiar with the book.

Historia
Is there credible proof that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God? In The Case for Christ, Lee Strobel, former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and New York Times bestselling author, retraces his own spiritual journey from atheism to faith and builds a captivating case for Christ's divinity. In this revised and updated edition of The Case for Christ, Strobel cross-examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools such as Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis, asking hard-hitting questions—and taking a deeper look at the evidence from the fields of science, philosophy, and history.

A case lost at the start
Revisado: 07-27-18
The author asks the listener to act as an objective jurist as he "investigates" the evidence, but immediately accepts admitted hearsay from admittedly anonymous sources and uses that basis for every other point to both branch from and rely on. I suggest listening to "The Case Against the Case for Christ" in parallel with this selection.

Historia
Leading New Testament scholar Robert M. Price has taken umbrage at the cavalier manner in which Rev. Lee Strobel has misrepresented the field of Bible scholarship in his book The Case for Christ. Price exposes and refutes Strobel's arguments chapter-by-chapter. In doing so, he has occasion to wipe out the entire field of Christian apologetics as summarized by Strobel. This book is a must-read for anyone bewildered by the various books published by Rev. Strobel.

The narration was lacking, but I don't hold that against a scholarly text that is read by the author. I went through this in parallel with the source material that it refutes and suggest that approach.
