Narrator is ruining the story for me
Revisado: 07-11-24
I have enjoyed the storyline for this series and loved the previous narrator, but the current narrator is making this book difficult to follow. Another reviewer commented on the inflections, and I concur with that, plus the pace of her reading and the odd inflections don’t seem appropriate for the story. I have listened to samples of this narrator on a couple of other books and her cadence is much better than for this series, so I believe she could be better here. Unfortunately, it became so unnerving after an hour, that I quit listening.

Like the story, not the reader
Revisado: 03-10-12
Would you consider the audio edition of A Grave Talent to be better than the print version?
I enjoy Laurie King's detailed writing style from other works, but the narrator's monotone made the story drag on and on. I agree with another reviewer to try this in writing instead.
What didn???t you like about Alyssa Bresnahan???s performance?
For me, her narration was unenthusiastic and plodding.
Any additional comments?
I also listen to Laurie King's Mary Russell series, and though the writing style with rich detail is similar, the narrator of that series makes the dialog and details far more enjoyable.
