Predictably boring and contrived

I’m honesty I wanted to know what happened after the first book, so I naturally I moved to this one, but this story lacks total originality. It’s a case of the outcast becomes everyone’s ideal crossed with the girl next door pinning like a love sick pup. Basically the whole plot reeks of fan fiction to something akin to Harry Potter
