Historia
Pino Lella wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis. He's a normal Italian teenager - obsessed with music, food, and girls - but his days of innocence are numbered. When his family home in Milan is destroyed by Allied bombs, Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps, and falls for Anna, a beautiful widow six years his senior. In an attempt to protect him, Pino's parents force him to enlist as a German soldier - a move they think will keep him out of combat.

A great combination of story and history
Revisado: 07-12-17
This story was moving, inspirational, tragic, and sweet. The author had more fascinating history than it would seem could be contained in one lifetime, and he pulled it together with the personal details and dialogue that he reconstructed. This story made me want to know Pino Lella, made me wish to know what his beautiful Ana looked like, and made me curious about the fate of the general. Even though there are many books about WWII, this was a fresh view of the war, from Italy and from more of a supply side of the Nazi war machine. The narrator was effective without being distracting, which is all I ever want from a narrator. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story.

I wish it didn't end
Revisado: 11-26-15
As soon as I saw that Nicholas Boulton narrated this book, I knew I must listen to it. No readers allow me to be immersed in a story like he does. I have found that many historical romances have more depth and complexity than modern ones, and this book is no exception. The main characters are both flawed and honorable, and both are filled with self-doubt covered by bravado. They are equally strong, and rather than change for each other, both grow to love the other for who they really are. I hope there are books to follow this one, because the supporting characters were interesting and worthy of their own stories. The only thing I disliked about this audio book is that it ended.

Historia
When Lady Georgette Thorold awoke she saw...her corset hanging from the armoire...a very handsome, very naked Scotsman lying beside her...and a wedding ring on her finger! Before the attractive stranger can tell her his name, Georgette does the only sensible thing - she runs for it. Little does she know, James MacKenzie isn't clear on what happened the night before, either. All he knows is that his money is missing and the stunning woman who just ran from the room is either his wife or a thief...or possibly both.

Perfect romantic performance
Revisado: 07-22-15
This is one of my favorite romances I've listened to. The story was fun, both characters were strong (I'm not a fan of romances with helpless virginal females and rich men who think no means yes), and the reader had a nice and expressive voice. Although some things in the plot were slightly implausible, the plot moved quickly and stayed interesting. The sex scenes were racy but not too graphic, and they actually made sense with the story. I look forward to more books by this author/reader combo!

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Great narration brought out details
Revisado: 02-17-15
I had read Dracula a couple times and seen various movie versions, but listening to the great narration highlighted details that I hadn't noticed before. I jogged many miles to this story!
