Historia
When Chloe is given a peek at the script for an epic love story, she decides to take her destiny into her own hands and request an audition for the lead female role, Esther Kingsley. The compelling tale, inspired by family lore and a one-page letter from the colonial ancestor of scriptwriter Jesse Gates, just might break her out of this career-crippling rut. Jesse would rather write about romance than live through it after his past relationship ended in disaster. But once on-set together, the chemistry between Jesse and his leading lady is hard to deny.

Derivative drivel

Derivative drivel with sappy, self-absorbed, one-dimensional characters and a boatload of sanctimonious Bible thumping. My brain hurts.

Historia
Tenley Roth's first book was a runaway best seller. Now that her second book is due, she's locked in fear. Can she repeat her earlier success, or is she a fraud who has run out of inspiration? A century earlier, another woman wrote at the same desk with hopes and fears of her own. Birdie Shehorn is the daughter of the old-money Knickerbockers. Under the strict control of her mother, her every move is decided ahead of time, even whom she'll marry. Tenley and Birdie are from two very different worlds, but fate has bound them together.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 08-15-21
The story was not bad, although there was a bit too much Bible thumping for my taste. The narration was abysmal, with so many mispronounced words it became a distraction.

Historia
This is the story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world - and did. Is he a destroyer or a liberator? Why does he fight his hardest battle not against his enemies, but against the woman he loves? Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged is Ayn Rand's magnum opus and launched an ideology and a movement. With the publication of this work in 1957, Rand gained an instant following and became a phenomenon.

Ancient history?
Revisado: 02-27-20
A corrupt, narcissistic emperor gleefully watches Rome burn and then scapegoats the new sect of Christians, whom he arrests, tortures, and brutally murders in public spectacles while the crowds cheer. Ancient history? Perhaps.

Historia
Award-winning poet Marisa de los Santos crafts an irresistibly touching debut novel. Love Walked In is a contemporary tale, steeped in nostalgic, cinematic charm, of love in all its forms. Unapologetically idealistic about love, Cornelia Brown appears to catch the break of a lifetime when the dashing Martin Grace, her own personal Cary Grant, comes strolling into her life. But it is Martin's connection to 11-year-old Clare Hobbes that touches Cornelia's heart in ways she never imagined.

sweet story
Revisado: 02-15-20
This was a sweet story, and one of those books you pick up and read right through. The story was a bit predictable, and the background noise on the recording of Clare's narration was at times distracting.

Historia
Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

A timeless classic
Revisado: 08-29-18
Ms. Spacek's rendition of Harper Lee's timeless classic brilliantly captures the character of young Scout as she tells the tale of her childhood, learning of the evils and the goodness that dwell in the people of her sleepy little Alabama town. This is one of my all time favorite books, and I've enjoyed listening to it even more than ever.

Nearly a half century into being a feminist and legal pioneer, something funny happened to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg: The octogenarian won the Internet. Across America, people who weren't even born when Ginsburg made her name are tattooing themselves with her face, setting her famously searing dissents to music, and making viral videos in tribute.

An entertaining illumination of the stupid beliefs that make us feel wise. You believe you are a rational, logical being who sees the world as it really is, but journalist David McRaney is here to tell you that you're as deluded as the rest of us. But that's OK - delusions keep us sane. You Are Not So Smart is a celebration of self-delusion. It's like a psychology class, with all the boring parts taken out, and with no homework. Based on the popular blog of the same name, You Are Not So Smart collects more than 46 of the lies we tell ourselves everyday.

Very useful to understand the discourse of today
Revisado: 08-06-18
For those of us who ponder, "How can smart people actually believe that?", this book helps clarify why we think the way we do, and how we can better understand ourselves and others in order to get back to the place of critical thinking, empathy, and intelligent discourse.
