Historia
Tiffany Aching has spent years studying with senior witches, and now she is on her own. As the witch of the Chalk, she performs the bits of witchcraft that aren't sparkly, aren't fun, don't involve any kind of wand, and that people seldom ever hear about: She does the unglamorous work of caring for the needy. But someone - or something - is igniting fear, inculcating dark thoughts and angry murmurs against witches.

Archie! Cease this flummery and buy the book!
Revisado: 05-15-13
Would you listen to In the Best Families again? Why?
this was the second listen. first time round I didn't do the books in chronological order.
What did you like best about this story?
All the favorite Archie/Wolfe moments are there.
Have you listened to any of Michael Prichard’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
spot on as usual.
Any additional comments?
In a world where change happens almost instantly its good to slip back into the old Brownstone and pull up a barstool in Fritz's kitchen where eggs are never fried, and settle in to a good mystery with Archie whispering wise cracks in your ear as Wolfe settles back in the only chair that satisfies him and works his way through the clues and clients. Ahhh forget change and give me comforting routine with characters I really care about.

Historia
World War II has arrived, and U.S. Army intelligence wants Nero Wolfe urgently. But the arrogant, gourmandizing, sedentary sleuth refuses the call to duty. It takes his perambulatory, confidential assistant, Archie Goodwin, to titillate Wolfe's taste for crime with two malevolent morsels: a corpse that won't rest in peace and a sinister "accident" involving national security. So as Goodwin lays the bait on the wrong side of the law, Wolfe sets the traps to catch a pair of wily killers.

Satisfactory!
Revisado: 05-15-13
Would you consider the audio edition of Not Quite Dead Enough to be better than the print version?
Micheal Pritchard IS Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin. Nobody does Wolfe better.
What other book might you compare Not Quite Dead Enough to and why?
The Black Mountain where we see Wolfe step out of his comfort zone and tackle problems in a new yet totally Wolfe way.
Have you listened to any of Michael Prichard’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
All of them. Performance is spot on.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
certainly!

Historia
After a slow summer of chasing low-level skips for her cousin Vinnie's bail bonds agency, Stephanie Plum finally lands an assignment that could put her checkbook back in the black. Geoffrey Cubbin, facing trial for embezzling millions from Trenton's premier assisted-living facility, has mysteriously vanished from the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. Now it's on Stephanie to track down the con man. Unfortunately, Cubbin has disappeared without a trace, a witness, or his money-hungry wife. Rumors are stirring that he must have had help with the daring escape...or that maybe he never made it out of his room alive.

Rangers Adventure, Stephanie tries....a little
Revisado: 12-28-12
Would you listen to Notorious Nineteen again? Why?
Next year when i'm hard up & starting a series over. Things happen to Stephanie instead of Stephanie happening to them. Not sure why our usual plucky persistent heroine hangs back on solving the mysteries and kind of has to rely a lot on the chance luck backup of Rangeman to rescue her. usually she does more to save herself but in this one she just doesn't try that hard. LuLa is hilarious as usual and all favorite folks are doing their usual bit but when Grandma Mazer says "I solved the mystery," she's not kidding. It's like maybe Janet got a little bored and wanted to expand the secondary folks & give them a bigger part in the resolution instead of Stephanie. Don't get me wrong, I'd still recommend the book, especially to die hard fans of the series. You don't want to miss this one, but it just aint the best one of the bunch. However as I had not had a Plum novel fix in a long time I was really happy to go back to Trenton & the bond office and tag along with Stephanie and Lula in the Buick and I definetly roared with laughter during the listen and I am glad I got it. and I look forward the #20 and fully expect it to be spot on as so many of the Plum books have been. and i look forward as always to the eternal Joe vs Ranger dilemma....why choose? keep em both!
Would you be willing to try another book from Janet Evanovich? Why or why not?
see above
Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
haven't though to search by Lorelei King, thanks for the suggestion. Though like Jim Dale and Harry Potter books, Lorelei King will always be Stephanie Plum to me just as Jim is Harry Potter! However I will give it a try.
Who was the most memorable character of Notorious Nineteen and why?
Lula was really the biggest laugh and strongest draw in this one.
Any additional comments?
Keep em coming!

classic pratchett!
Revisado: 10-16-12
What did you love best about The Truth?
The quote, "a lie can go around the world before the truth can get its boots on...."
What did you like best about this story?
Introduction of Otto Schrek the vampire who loves to take pictures and is fascinated by light. And that the female was a good strong character as well.
What does Stephen Briggs bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The voices! Oh he is the best for the disc world! he knows all the folks and how they speak. He would never make Nanny ogg sound like a decrepit old lady like that awful version of The Wyrd Sisters done by that lady who did Nanny Ogg such a diservice.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
same as the quote
