An Enjoyable Continuation
Revisado: 09-09-21
I definitely recommend reading the first book first so you understand the background and history of the characters. I enjoyed getting to pick their story back up. The narrator fits the story perfectly. I would love a follow on story about what happens with Buntie!

Just Blah
Revisado: 08-25-21
Really wanted to give the book a chance but honestly with the exception of Joe none of the characters are likable. The way the story is written drones on, you just don’t get invested in any of the characters. Xe Sands did as good as possible with the story. Probably wouldn’t recommend to others though

Historia
Two years into World War II, Britain is feeling her losses: The Nazis have won battles, the Blitz has destroyed cities, and U-boats have cut off the supply of food. In an effort to help housewives with food rationing, a BBC radio program called The Kitchen Front is holding a cooking contest - and the grand prize is a job as the program’s first-ever female co-host. For four very different women, winning the competition would present a crucial chance to change their lives.

A Great Historical Fiction Listen
Revisado: 08-18-21
Overall enjoyed the book, in the beginning you may get annoyed with a few characters but it all works out in the end. The narration was excellent with her ability to give each character their own distinct voice and she did the children’s part exceptionally well. Would recommend.

Historia
Written with bracing wit and intelligence, Rachel Maddow's Drift argues that we've drifted away from America's original ideals and become a nation weirdly at peace with perpetual war, with all the financial and human costs that entails. To understand how we've arrived at such a dangerous place, Maddow takes us from the Vietnam War to today's war in Afghanistan.

Very well presented and thorough dive into the history of this nations relationship with War. Even though I served in the military I learned a lot and appreciate the examination of the toll on those who serve and their families.

I liked the dynamic between the two lead characters and that the guy wasn’t perfect and the girl wasn’t a total idiot. The narrator did a good job with all the accents. Overall a great listen.

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing this book and thought the characters were engaging as well as the history of England during WWII. The narrator was spot on with her accent and really made the characters shine. If you like historical fiction and strong women this book is well worth your time.
