Brilliant research and audio performance!

This book has mountains of primary source material! I was so intrigued by the backstory of how George Lucas created the 6 Star Wars movies. It covers the inspirations like Flash Gordon and Hidden Fortress very thoroughly. It also goes deep into the production side. The narrator on this audiobook version is so talented! I hope he continues to perform audiobooks! I want to hear more by him! Lucasfilm should have him perform some of the Expanded Universe novels. He is able to perform so many voices of people like George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, Mark Hamill, Irvin Kershner, and so many other behind the camera and front of the camera talent involved in bringing the movies to fruition. Well done! Right up there with Marc Thompson’s audio performance talent! I’m going to listen to the audiobook again.

Did you know the actual complete works of Edgar Allan Poe fill multitudes of volumes? I found that fascinating. The usual complete works that we are used to are really just the most popular poems and gothic tales. Poe was far more than the brooding figure writing on a stormy night that we imagine him to be. This book tells the whole story of his life. I now look forward to visiting the Poe museum in Richmond. Wonderful narration by Grover Gardner.

He understood the times

Peter Noble is an excellent reader. I felt like I was actually hearing Orwell read his essays! I hope he will read more of Orwell’s works for audiobooks. Orwell understood history, current events, literature, human nature and it all comes across hear in these essays.

Essential children’s classic. Kids need literature like this. There is a whole different view of children’s literature as adults but often as profound because you see why it was important as a child.

If you like reading Dickens, you’ll like this! The narrator is excellent too. This is also good for anyone wanting to learn more about Victorian English history.

Dated but relevant

Dated but still relevant on how news broadcasts are made and how one should analyze them. It seems to predict the rise of YouTube and independent news journalists with its reference to future one-man on the ground journalists as we have now where anyone can live stream.
