good series
Revisado: 02-08-25
this was a good series from one of my favorite authors. I would really like to share this with my grandsons but can't because of the language. I can't have them dropping fbombs blaming grandpa for it. maybe one day there will be a YA version for them.
but if you love dogs you will love this trilogy.

Historia
Flight of Horror! On a long overseas flight, ordinary airline passengers are suddenly turning into mindless, flesh-eating monsters. And no one wants to let them land … No one knows if it’s the result of an incredibly fast-acting virus, hard-hitting disease, or mysterious infection. But it’s loose and getting worse, and there’s no stopping it. Several passengers are already dead, many more hurt or injured. And now missile-laden jet fighters are trailing the aircraft … possibly with orders to shoot it down. For fifteen-year-old Jax and his high school wrestling team, the nightmare ...

Good Y/A read
Revisado: 10-12-24
I liked the concept. For ya it was good. But teens and lack of adults adult adulting took away from story. too many things left unsaid or tied up at the end made it a weak ending.
I've listened to 2 other books by same author and they were better than this.

this was a good listen. the only downside is I wish there was more inflection in different voices. he could have done without all the f words and tried to make it more young adult friendly. I would have loved to have shared with grandson but not with the language.
im hoping for book 2

Historia
“There are people who enjoy watching kids being killed—and eaten—by dinosaurs.” Kayce shrugged matter-of-factly. “We try to deny them that pleasure.” It’s called Dinosaur Run, and it’s the most vicious, most twisted sport ever conceived. Attractive, athletic teenagers are snatched off the streets and transported 150 million years back in time—to the age of dinosaurs—allowing wealthy spectators to gamble on who’ll be the first to go, who’ll last longest, and who’ll be … eaten … by what. But this time they’ve picked the wrong group of kids to mess with. Don’t...

When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

good anthology...
Revisado: 02-18-24
I enjoy anthologies like this. they can be very entertaining and offer a great look into a variety of authors. Scott Sigler gave this a really strong finish. I laughed when one clueless writer had a woman character that fought in the Vietnam war. that kind of unhistory to me is sad. of course it's politically correct to have a woman rambo in that war but there was no such thing so please consider that when reading. to me good sci-fi is based on historical facts and real science. not some poorly educated writer.
enjoy.

I guess if this is the best of the year we really had a bad year. nothing fantastic about the stories. at least it wasn't a bunch of woke writers pushing agendas.

Historia
Few know the warship’s actual name. But everyone has heard the rumors. The PUV James Keeling can do something no other vessel in existence can do—slip into another dimension, travel undetected, then re-emerge onto our plane and surprise enemy targets. But the thing that makes the Crypt unique also makes it a nightmare for those onboard; interdimensional travel causes hallucinations, violent behavior, and psychotic breakdowns. Keeling could be the Union’s greatest weapon, a game-changing asset that can defeat the bloodthirsty zealots of the Purist Nation, the Union’s mortal enemy.

If this were my first Sigler book ...
Revisado: 10-27-23
hi! I won't make this long bc I don't read long reviews anyway. this was a well thought out book and is typical of what Scott writes. there is a little bit of real tech and then the sci-fi tech. I enjoyed the story and the characters developed. I actually expected a main character to die but I'm glad they didn't.
Portter does a good job at narration but with so many characters there lacked some diversity (Jon and Sans). But he still did a good job.
I hope you listen and enjoy it as much as I have. there are a lot of other Sigler books to dig into. I hope you pick up the GFL series. You'll like it.. oh and don't forget Earthcore... and Alive... well you get the point.

Historia
One event, big enough to wreak havoc on America. Three men. Seventeen days. One goal: Survive long enough to reach their safe haven. During the first 17 days of the collapse of America, three men travel through the mounting destruction, seeking asylum in the Rocky Mountains, but finding, instead, the nucleus of who they are as men. A jaded special operations soldier, a self-doubting family man, and a once-pampered teenager make their way from three corners of the country toward a survival compound in the state of Utah.

Revisado: 09-18-23
it was a good story. not great because it is not a standalone book. kind of like the empire strikes back. performance was better this round. But way too many cliff hanger type stories. so far I've enjoyed the series and look forward to the next book.

Historia
In 1991, the Kennedy brothers first published The South Was Right!, launching the modern movement of Southern awareness and activism. To date, the first and second edition of this book have sold more than 135,000 copies! Not for the faint of heart, The South Was Right! is an authoritative and well-documented study of the mythology behind “Civil War” history and its ongoing effects. In their new edition for a 21st-century audience, the Kennedys have updated their message to provide guidance for the harsh conditions against liberty.

Finally A Southern Perspective
Revisado: 07-28-23
I've heard all my life the northern montra of slavery slavery slavery!!! But growing up in Alabama I was taught history by Mr Jones at Huffman High school. A black man who told me the war was about money...not slavery. He was right and continues to be right.
The first war for southern independence was fought by brave men of any color to defend their homes from northern aggressors. (it's the 1st one bc another one is surely coming). The authors gave historical facts and figures based in the archives of the US and other sources. Well documented and historically accurate. It's a good listen and I wish others would move past their prejudices and give it a fair listen. I wish I were still in school and could write a paper on it.
Listen ... learn... and enjoy!
