Historia
More than 10,000 years ago spectacularly large mammals roamed the pampas and jungles of South America. This book tells the story of these great beasts during and just after the Pleistocene, the geological epoch marked by the great ice ages. Megafauna describes the history and way of life of these animals, their comings and goings, and what befell them at the beginning of the modern era and the arrival of humans.

Pulling teeth, painful dissertation
Revisado: 01-02-24
Painful details about teeth and bones with no new evidence or information about WHAT caused the death of the megafauna. Chapter 9 whitewashing of this topic earned this review.

FINALLY! Denisovan details Revealed
Revisado: 12-22-23
Outstanding work that gives us SCIENTIFIC origins of Denisovans. Stunning revelations about our human history and migrations based upon eight bones recovered by dedicated scientists. I am waiting with great anticipation for the sequel when more Denisovan remains are recovered and perhaps even the “ghost population” further expanded our understanding. Thank you

Historia
Who are we? How do scientists define Homo sapiens, and how does our species differ from the extinct hominins that came before us? In this accessible account palaeoarchaeologist Paul Pettitt shows how the latest scientific advances, especially in genetics, are revolutionizing our understanding of human evolution. Pettitt reveals the extraordinary story of how our ancestors adapted to unforgiving and relentlessly changing climates, leading to remarkable innovations in art, technology, and society that we are only now beginning to comprehend.

Historia
Origin is the story of who the first peoples in the Americas were, how and why they made the crossing, how they dispersed south, and how they lived based on a new and powerful kind of evidence: their complete genomes. Origin provides an overview of these new histories throughout North and South America, and a glimpse into how the tools of genetics reveal details about human history and evolution.

Tell us what you know
Revisado: 11-13-23
Tell us what you know and stay in your lane of expertise. I agree with “Oxtail’s” assessment that the author spent more time hedging against racism than necessary. Simply put we modern humans are all hybrids of previous human ancestors and anyone not grown in a lab can never claim “pure” anything.
What I want to know is what the MtDNA shows about verifiable migration and more specifically what caused each of these movements using multiple data to illustrate for the average person. I am more interested in how Denisovan’s and Neanderthal’s contributed to “anatomical modern Humans”.
On a more positive note I truly appreciate the interview with the author.

Intelligent design
Revisado: 09-03-16
The author weaves a well balanced story of creative genius and intelligent design. I like the fact that Google publicly strives to tackle impossible goals with data driven results. I also like that the author takes great pains to illustrate Google business failures in as much detail as their successes. Well done.

Historia
The never-before-told full story of the history-changing break-in at the FBI office in Media, Pennsylvania, by a group of unlikely activists - quiet, ordinary, hardworking Americans - that made clear the shocking truth and confirmed what some had long suspected, that J. Edgar Hoover had created and was operating, in violation of the U.S. Constitution, his own shadow Bureau of Investigation.
