Historia
Lynn grew up the carefree daughter of a Miami undercover narcotics agent—until her dad snuck out of the house in the dark of night without a glance back. She never knew what happened to her father until she was in high school, and he was in prison for drug smuggling. By then, Lynn had developed a dangerous drug and alcohol habit of her own. It was the perfect setup for her to latch onto the only connection to her dad that remained when he was paroled from prison—cocaine.

Her courage to keep going.
Revisado: 02-29-24
I really liked this book. Being a recovering alcoholic myself, it's interesting to hear other people's stories. Some of the reading was a bit "stiff", but other than that it was good.

Historia
Happiness is considered a destination, but the finish line is constantly moving—when we get married, find that dream job, move away from home, have a baby, build a dream house, etc. We are promised that a happy life is tied to these milestones. But what if society has it wrong? What if happiness isn't the goal at all? With her trademark candor and hilarious storytelling, MK paints a picture of a different life—one bursting with a force that is far more sustainable and vibrant: joy.

Historia
When an unidentified, seemingly healthy young woman collapses suddenly on the New York City subway and dies upon reaching the hospital, her case is an eerie reminder for veteran medical examiner Jack Stapleton of the 1918 flu pandemic. Fearful of a repeat on the 100th anniversary of the nightmarish contagion, Jack autopsies the woman within hours of her demise and discovers some striking anomalies: first, that she has had a heart transplant, and second, that, against all odds, her DNA matches that of the transplanted heart.

Not impressed
Revisado: 09-11-22
I've been a long time fan of Robin Cook and have always enjoyed his books. This was one of the slowest and most boring. I found myself waiting for the story to get to a climax but it never happened. Robin should have just kept this story to himself.

Historia
Marine Sgt. John Peck survived an IED during the War on Terror that left him with a traumatic brain injury, amnesia, and cost him his marriage. He survived another three years later, one that left him with three and a half limbs missing. He’s one of only two living people to survive the flesh-eating fungus he contracted in recovery at Walter Reed, one that left him as a quadruple amputee. And that’s only the beginning of his story. What followed was a recovery nothing short of miraculous.

I have to say that this is probably one of the best books I've purchased and listened to on Audible! I couldn't shut it off to do anything else, and that doesn't happen very often. Thank you MK for such a wonderful book with so much to think about.
