Excellent thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. We picked this for our Book Club and were very tempted to break the only rule of Book Club "don't read ahead"

If you are looking for a story about cheerful youngsters spending a jolly time at boarding school, look elsewhere. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are intelligent and resourceful children, and you might expect that they would do very well at school. Don't.

Great Book - Bad Narration
Revisado: 07-13-18
Lemony Snicket is a wonderful and gifted writer, he just isn't a good narrator, not even a decent one. So don't get discouraged by the narration, try reading this book on your own or maybe soon Tim Curry's narration will be available.... that would be great.

I hope, for your sake, that you have not chosen to listen to this recording because you are in the mood for a pleasant experience. If this is the case, I advise you to put down this audio instantaneously, because of all the audios describing the unhappy lives of the Baudelaire orphans, The Miserable Mill might be the unhappiest yet.

Lemony Snicket should stick to writing!
Revisado: 06-08-18
The story is amazing, I truly enjoy the way Lemony Snicket writes but his performance is ghastly, he doesn't even maintain the same volume. I don't know when the narration was switched to Lemony Snicket, the first 2 books are narrated by Tim Curry, you will thoroughly enjoy them, the ones by Lemony Snicket are honestly horrible.

If you have not read anything about the Baudelaire orphans, then before you read even one more sentence, you should know this: Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are kindhearted and quick-witted, but their lives, I am sorry to say, are filled with bad luck and misery. All of the stories about these three children are unhappy and wretched, and this one may be the worst of them all.

Fantastic book, bad narrator
Revisado: 05-18-18
As with the previous books, the story is engaging. Lemony Snicket is an amazing writer but a horrible storyteller. I did not enjoy the performance in the slightest.

modern tales of vampires and witches
Revisado: 11-29-17
I really enjoyed the way the writer manages to tell an interesting modern story involving super natural creatures. I've been a long time lover of both vampires and witches but have seldom found interesting tales of both set in modern times.

Great material, reading has some reverberation
Revisado: 07-18-16
A great book overall. I really enjoyed the material but the recording in most of the affirmations chapters sounds like there's a broken speaker and the reverberation makes it distracting to follow.

fantastic look into creation
Revisado: 03-07-16
in this book in the series Lestat is merely a listener, as Memnoch shares the history of creation. A close and intimate look at God, the devil and how it all came to be. Anne Rice manages to take us into a biblical tale within the Vampire Chronicles, well executed leaves us with a big deal to think about.

Historia
It all began with a simple seaside vacation, a brother and sister recapturing their childhood. Antoine Rey thought he had the perfect surprise for his sister Mélanie's birthday: a weekend by the sea at Noirmoutier Island, where the pair spent many happy childhood summers playing on the beach. It had been too long, Antoine thought, since they'd returned to the island—over thirty years, since their mother died and the family holidays ceased. But the island's haunting beauty triggers more than happy memories.

OK story, terrible inconsequential ending...
Revisado: 02-10-16
don't waste your time with this book. the author does not do a good job writing from the male perspective. the story starts out great and it starts enveloping you, although throughout the book you're painfully aware that this is a female writer trying to depict and narrate from the male perspective and then the inconsequential ending arrives and you wish you wouldn't have given this book your time.
