Historia
It's difficult today to imagine how America survived the Great Depression. Only through the stories of the common people who struggled during that era can we really understand how the nation endured. In The Forgotten Man, Amity Shlaes offers a striking reinterpretation of the Great Depression. Rejecting the old emphasis on the New Deal, she turns to the neglected and moving stories of individual Americans, and shows how they helped establish the steadfast character we developed as a nation.

Well written and well read
Revisado: 03-31-24
Excellent book, well narrated. Shlaes weaves a compelling narrative to follow through the ‘20s and ‘30s.

Historia
John Buchan published his second most famous novel, John MacNab. Three high-flying men—a barrister, a cabinet minister, and a banker—are suffering from boredom. They concoct a plan to cure it. They inform three Scottish estates that they will poach from each two stags and a salmon in a given time. They sign collectively as "John McNab" and await the responses. This novel is a light interlude within the Leithen Stories series—an evocative look at the hunting, shooting, and fishing lifestyle in Highland Scotland.

Great book, well performed except for one snafu
Revisado: 10-25-21
Great writing, short and easy listen, well worth it for anyone interested in the Battle of the Atlantic or leadership.
One problem with the performance- near the end of the book, the narrator mixes up the accents as he is reading the lines so the American character is being read as British and vice versa. Made it confusing to follow for a minute but the problem does not persist. Otherwise, a very good reading performance.
