Amazingly Enjoyable Listen!
Revisado: 05-29-20
Full disclosure: The author of this book is a co-worker of mine. He has asked me to give an honest review and that is what this is; an honest review of this novel.
Generations is a coming of age story for a high school graduate. It ties present day events with events that took place 50 years ago; a murder/suicide, involving his grandfather, which becomes the subject of investigation for the protagonist the summer after graduating from high school. A summer that is supposed to be spent preparing for the biggest year of his life.
This book is a fast paced, page turner. It seems every section of the book unlocks a mystery only to find another mystery to unlock. Generations is a book of redemption. Soooo much redemption. The redemption unfolds for each character differently. The characters face realistic struggles and show incredible strength of character in overcoming those struggles. The main characters were allowed to make mistakes and suffer the consequences of those mistakes, but also learn from them.
One of the categories this book falls into, is Christian fiction. There are definitely Christian elements to this book with Biblical references, prayer, and of course, some of the characters are Christian. This adds to the story line as the main characters struggle with their faith. At its core, this book is a wonderfully written mystery novel, that is an exciting ride of discovery for the main character. Jordan discovers a lot about himself, his family, his ancestors, his community, and his faith the summer after graduation, that he didn’t know, and wouldn't have believed while going through High School, and much of it changes his perspective on life and love.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read an exciting mystery novel that brings you into the action and keeps the heart pumping throughout.
I listened to the audio version of the book and the team that produced this and the actors that voiced it did an excellent job. The only complaint I have about the production is that sometimes (not every time), it seemed to switch from one scene in the book to another with no delay and when that happened, sometimes I didn’t realize the scene had switched. I listen to audio books at about 1.5 to 1.6 speed so that may have had something to do with the short delay between scenes in the book. This in no way took away from the listening experience and I still give this book and the performances in the audio book 5-stars.

Best Book for Dad’s with Daughters
Revisado: 01-10-14
Are you a dad? Are you a dad of a daughter or daughters? If you are and you have not read (or listened to) Meg Meeker’s book, Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters: 10 Secrets Every Father Should Know, you need to finish reading this review, then stop everything, and download, order or otherwise purchase this book and spend the next couple days reading it cover to cover. Then you need to read it again a few months later, and then again, and again. Yes, it is that important. This is hands down the BEST book for Dad’s with Daughters. I’m not saying other books are not useful or good or have nothing to offer; I’m just saying that if you only read one book in your life about parenting, this one should be the one (unless you only have boys of course).
This book was first published in September of 2006. As of the date of this post the paperback edition was #1 on the Parenting Girls list on Amazon.com. The Kindle edition was #6 on the same list, the hardcover edition was #9 and the audio book edition was #18! It was the only audio book in the top 25 and no other book even had another edition in the top 25! Furthermore, the paperback edition of her companion book, Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters: The 30-Day Challenge, was #42 on the same Parenting Girls list. Most of the other books in the top 10 we published sometime after 2010. This book has 481 reviews with about 4.5 stars. Only 3 other books in the top 50 has more than 200 reviews.
Look, I’m talking to you, Dad’s with Daughters… you have to read or listen to this book. I don’t care if you don’t like to read! Cry me a river! Is your daughter worth it? Is she worth the cost of the book and the few hours it will take you to read or listen to it? If you don’t like to read eBooks or the old fashioned paper books, get the audio book and listen to it. And don’t tell me you don’t have time. That is a load of C-R-A-P! If you don’t have time to read this book then you are telling me you don’t have time to invest in your daughters life.
I've read Dobson’s book, Bringing Up Girls; it is a good book with lots of good advice on raising girls. But he refers to Meg Meeker’s book so often throughout his book he could have saved a lot of time and effort by just telling people he didn't need to write a book on daughters because the best book on daughters had already been published when he wrote his.
I’m telling you, the only Dad’s that can afford to wait to read this book are Dad’s with daughters younger than about 12 months old. The rest of you need to get this book and start listening now. Don’t waste another minute. Get the practical advice and steps you need to be the Dad you were meant to be by getting this book and reading it, over and over again.

Story about rabbits? Yes! And it is wonderful!
Revisado: 07-26-13
This book is about rabbits. One could assume that a book about rabbits is only for children but you would be wrong. This book is an adventure and sometimes very sad and I would say kids younger than about 8 or 9 would not enjoy it. But if you like captivating stories that are hard to put down you will find this book very entertaining. I read this book for the first time about 15 years ago and was excited to listen to it. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the characters of this adventure to life. The character development of the rabbits in this story is simply amazing. I will never again look at rabbits the same. I will always wonder if the rabbit I see nibbling at the grass is one of the rabbits from the story on silflay. Ahh... don't know what silflay means? You'll have to read the book to find out. You will not be disappointed in this book. It will have you laughing and crying and sometimes at the same time.

You only think you know this story...
Revisado: 07-17-13
If you could sum up The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in three words, what would they be?
What a wonderful story! Most people with a casual or nostalgic interest in The Wizard of Oz will be delightfully surprised to find out the book is wonderful but different than the movie. Many things in the movie musical mirror the book quite closely but there is much in the book that is not in the movie. So my three words are Wonderful, Surprised, and Delightful!
What did you like best about this story?
What I enjoyed most about listening to this book was re-discovering Oz in all its wonder. And finding out there is more to the Land of Oz than I had ever thought or expected.
What does Anne Hathaway bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Anne Hathaway does an outstanding job of performing this book. There are many different types of characters in this book, from mice to flying monkeys, she portrays each character with a unique voice that if you just read the book, instead of listening, would be lost.
