Historia
Was America founded on the auction block in Jamestown in 1619 or aboard the Mayflower in 1620? The controversy erupted in August 2019 when the New York Times announced its 1619 Project. The Times set to transform history by asserting that all the laws, material gains, and cultural achievements of Americans are rooted in the exploitation of African Americans. Historians have pushed back, saying that the 1619 Project conjures a false narrative out of racial grievance.

Accurate and Authentic and well-documented
Revisado: 08-23-23
A more accurate and authentic look at American History that doesn't shy away from the truth about Slavery- or the deliberately ignored flaws in the 1619 Project. We are a nation being intentionally divided. We don't need the thinly researched and profoundly skewed lies offered by Nikole Hannah Jones in order to encourage and profit from more such division.
Read the whole story-well documented and impartial, in this book. So much more detail and very enlightening.

Revisado: 01-09-23
This collection has a few familiar tales, and some I hadn't read before. It covers his full range, and echoes Ray Bradbury's anthologies in the variety. Each of these short stories leaves you wanting to follow the characters longer- but don't all of his stories do that?

She doesn't expect to find herself doing chores, caring for the careless, and trying to outthink an ill-tempered nanny goat. There must be more to witchcraft than this!

So much promise- killed slowly and needlessly!
Revisado: 10-05-21
The narration was incredible- and brought the characters to life so well that you ached and cried with them... with the exception of the two protagonists. That is, if you can call such whiny, hateful, spoiled women protagonists. How hard is it - truly!- to write a well-rounded female fantasy lead?!?
It was a struggle to stick with the story- particularly as EVERY other character was so much more interesting AND better defined than either lead!
Add the political leanings of the author (rather obvious in the unreasoning, weak, selfish, whiny version of the female heroine) which reviews say shows up in greater miserable detail in the next in the series), and I have to say I'm skipping the rest of the series. I don't believe in reading and then refunding... but I can thoroughly understand why others would return this selection.
Again, the narration was *incredible*. And the author's development of the secondary characters was excellent. That's why it's so sad to realize the curiosity and care for the characters is not enough (given the negatives) to push me to jump into the next one. It was a struggle to get past the protagonists to the supporting cast. Add the political verbal vomit that's become the self-righteous virtue-signal eating away at common decency and courtesy... no thanks!

Historia
In 2009, Mark R. Levin galvanized conservatives with his unforgettable manifesto Liberty and Tyranny, by providing a philosophical, historical, and practical framework for halting the liberal assault on Constitution-based values. That book was about standing at the precipice of progressivism’s threat to our freedom, and now, over a decade later, we’re fully over that precipice and paying the price. In American Marxism, Levin explains how the core elements of Marxist ideology are now pervasive in American society and culture.

Quintessential Levin
Revisado: 07-18-21
Insightful, educated and spot on. Levin calls out today's biggest threats - and their accompanying lies. And no surprise that he is being targeted because of this book. it states a bitter truth very plainly: there are those who dislike those who disagree with them and HATE America, it's melting pot culture and the freedom that created it.

Different but still a quality Koontz tale
Revisado: 07-14-21
Having read some negative reviews, I was nervous about this one- but Koontz is always a safe risk. Turns out the negative reviews are wrong. This tale totally takes you in and keeps hold throughout. Koontz well developed characters and detailed time period and locale work well without either getting out of sync. Though the graphic violence leans toward Stephen King, the multi-layetred, likeable characters are all Koontz. it's fast-paced, gripping and well played.

A classic!
Revisado: 05-26-21
This listen was a wonderfully pleasant surprise! Having seen the movie- multiple times as is one of my favorites!- I was cautious about this as I'd never read the book and film vs book often leaves one version far superior than the other. (True Grit, for example).
But, this book is- though there are several plot and character differences versus the film, I loved every moment of it! The screenwriter for the film must have loved it as well, for- despite the differences- you can see the well-deserved respect for the book in the film.
Rather than being a letdown, "reading" this book for the first time was like hearing the "rest of the story" which is sweet, poignant, and utterly entertaining!

Historia
Six remarkable stories from a master of modern science fiction. Octavia E. Butler's classic "Bloodchild," winner of both the Nebula and Hugo awards, anchors this collection of incomparable stories and essays. "Bloodchild" is set on a distant planet where human children spend their lives preparing to become hosts for the offspring of the alien Tlic. Sometimes the procedure is harmless, but often it is not. Also included is the Hugo Award - winning "Speech Sounds," about a near future in which humans must adapt after an apocalyptic event robs them of their ability to speak.
