Historia
Kristen Leonard is done with setups. She’s not interested in your son or your nephew or your butcher or the guy who mows your lawn, thank you very much, grandma! After all, she’s a modern woman - she’ll take her chances on the algorithms of online dating to find her ideal man. Before long, she meets a man who might just be the one - he’s hilarious, quick-witted, and full of heart. And when she meets up with Cameron in real life, he certainly looks exactly like his profile picture...but something’s not quite right.

Scenes were cut out
Revisado: 04-21-25
So, I usually read the book and listen to the audiobook to give it a better and more full experience. However, this audiobook cut out scenes that were in the actual book. I’m not sure why they did it this way because some of the scenes they cut out were crucial to the story line. It also made it way different from Lauren Blakely’s other stories. Even though it was a novella, I also didn’t like that. It was book 6 because this story occurs before book one. The entire series was weirdly sequenced. Even though they are standalone romcoms, the stories need to be rearranged in a different order for them to make more sense in the overall storyline,

Just my luck - my new next door neighbor is a unicorn. Yep, the British hottie is clearly a mythical man because - get this - he's a sexy, witty, charming, big-hearted single dad. Who, wait for it, wants to find Mrs. Right and get hitched. He’s a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of man, and it’s a darn shame I’m not on the market. If I were, his accent alone would melt me. Add in the fact that he's a veterinarian, and my animal-loving heart would be flip flopping.

Interesting, Fun, and Full of Love
Revisado: 04-19-25
The reason I like this story is because it didn’t follow the same…boy meets girl, boy is scared of love/commitment, girl is scared of love due to past scars, but both are completely drawn to each other which leads to hot, steamy scenes which are apparently the best EVER!! This book offers a different problem than the other books of Lauren Blakely‘s that I’ve read. It’s not my complete favorite. That would be the sinful men collection, but this ranks, probably in my top five.
What I don’t understand is this is the fifth book in the “The guys who got away series”, however, this book occurs before Oliver and Summer’s story in “Dear Sexy Ex Boyfriend”. I know that the novels are all standalone romcoms, but I like to read books in the series as they follow along in the time sequence.
However, the one thing that I really disliked is the author adding MM couples in almost EVERY single book she’s written!! It’s totally irritating! I’m not sure why the author is obsessed with MM couples considering she has an entire series based on MM couples AND MFM triouples (not a word, I made it up), but she still feels the need to add MM couples in the books that are heterosexual. My opinion (and solely mine, yours may be different) is if I’m reading a heterosexual romcom, there should not be any homos in the stories especially if they’re raising children like in this story!!
That being said, I like this novel! The only thing that would make this story better is by making the narration a duet or even better with a full cast! Even though, I absolutely enjoy his narration, I didn’t really like Shane East’s imitation of a girl voice.

I live my life by a few simple rules—let no one in, trust only my family, and don’t ever spend more than three nights with a woman. Those are easy enough to abide by until I meet gorgeous, captivating, and absolutely brilliant Sophie Winston and fall into a dangerous romance with the sister of the detective investigating my father’s murder.

This collection by far is my favorite one of Lauren Blakely’s collections! I love that the stories are not just standalone’s like in her other collections! There is a set order to read these books and because the base storyline stands through all the main books, and then the novella at the end is like a surprise short story about two characters that played a big role throughout the main collection! My favorite story in this collection would be either the first or second book. However, I think I like Ryan and Sophie‘s story (2nd book) more just because I think Sophie’s fashion style is awesome and their story doesn’t have some stupid drama where the hero and heroine won’t admit their feelings and you’re yelling at the characters throughout the entire book telling them to freaking talk to each other instead of going on and on and on… I think that’s why I like this collection the best because none of the books really do that in this collection. The underlining story found throughout the collection helps make the books more interesting, and it gives the characters more depth, especially since the characters from all the books are found in all the stories! I highly recommend this whole collection!

Stories & Narrators
Revisado: 03-02-25
The stories were original, engaging, and thrilling! And, the narrators were absolutely fantastic!! I usually listen to the book on Audible and read it as well since sometimes it can get confusing what the characters actually say to one another and what they’re thinking. But, that’s just me and it does not take away from the story at all! Wonderful books, I definitely recommend. Side note: I could’ve done without the MM in the first 2 stores. I did like Baldwin‘s character so I’m not as put off by that character, but the 17 year old was a little bit much. (This is my opinion only, you might agree or disagree, but that is how I feel). Overall, they were fantastic storylines and I don’t think I could just choose one as a favorite!

Wow!
Revisado: 10-02-23
I absolutely LOVED this book!
There’s only a couple of aspects that I really didn’t care for. This is a children’s book, so why on earth would the author include dragons who like the same sex. There are 2 in this arc & tbh it’s pointless to include. I NEVER want my children to think this is okay.
Secondly, I LOVE Darkstalker. I didn’t like the ending and what happened to him. He was the most powerful character in the book & the only one who doesn’t whine about and rethinking/debating on everything they do!!
This second arc is my favorite so far, but you would really have to read the Darkstalker book beforehand in order to understand some of the aspects in the books to get a deeper understanding.

A thrilling new series soars above the competition and redefines middle-grade fantasy fiction for a new generation! The seven dragon tribes have been at war for generations, locked in an endless battle over an ancient, lost treasure. A secret movement called the Talons of Peace is determined to bring an end to the fighting, with the help of a prophecy - a foretelling that calls for great sacrifice. Five dragonets are collected to fulfill the prophecy, raised in a hidden cave and enlisted, against their will, to end the terrible war.

Actually Thrilling
Revisado: 05-18-23
My son convinced me to listen to this series & I have to admit I am hooked! At first, imo, I wasn’t able to distinguish between the different characters the reader uses, however, as the story progressed, I noticed this quickly changes. Since I usually listen to stories while I drive, I couldn’t wait to get in the truck to listen to more of the story. I’m currently listening to the 2nd book & can honestly say is 10x better than this one, so I have very high hopes for the series as a whole!
