I loved this book in the series as there were so many storylines intersecting and "returning" characters. Hope to see this one on the TV screen one day (crossing fingers).

I really liked the story. I wanted to rush and finish it to see how it ended. I'm glad I read it but the ending could have been a little stronger.

Fabulous life lessons
Revisado: 07-25-21
Great read! I was pleasantly surprised that this book wasn't just focused on the Trump saga. Comey also worked with President's Obama & Bush. He draws on his life experiences with many people in his life who showed him what leadership should and shouldn't look like.

Historia
Anne Corey is about to get schooled. An English professor in California, she's determined to score a position on the coveted tenure track at her college. All she's got to do is get a book deal, snag a promotion, and boom! She's in. But then Adam Martinez - her first love and ex-fiancé - shows up as the college's new president. Funny, smart, and full of heart, this modern ode to Jane Austen's classic Persuasion explores what happens when we run into the demons of our past...and when they turn out not to be so bad, after all.

Predictable & trite
Revisado: 01-28-21
I really wanted to like this book. I am in the academic field and was looking forward to reading about a character in that environment. The protagonist is portrayed like a ditz who can't get to her class on time to teach. Her internal monologue about her students is very judgemental. She seemed like a caricature at best. If she was some quirky character who showed some growth then I could have tolerated it. The whole cast of characters seemed one dimensional. The ending was exactly how I imagined it would be.

Historia
Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

Historia
In Carrying the Fire, Michael Collins conveys, in a very personal way, the drama, beauty, and humor of the adventure of reaching the moon. He also traces his development from his first flight experiences in the air force, through his days as a test pilot, to his Apollo 11 spacewalk, presenting an evocative description of the joys of flight as well as a new perspective on time, light, and movement from someone who has seen the fragile Earth from the other side of the moon.

Collins is a fabulous storyteller
Revisado: 08-19-19
I loved the book. As a writer, Collins is poetic and technical - at just the right times. I learned a lot about Apollo 11 that I wasn't aware of and about the experience of a pilot in the time of early space exploration. There were great highs and lows & Collins touches on them.
I'd often wondered about how he felt as the man in orbit who didn't step on the moon & he answered that question & provided much more insight.
I only wish he'd written another book.

Billy Crystal is 65, and he's not happy about it. With his trademark wit and heart, he outlines the absurdities and challenges that come with growing old, from insomnia to memory loss to leaving dinners with half your meal on your shirt. In humorous chapters like "Buying the Plot" and "Nodding Off," Crystal not only catalogues his physical gripes, but offers a road map to his 77 million fellow baby boomers who are arriving at this milestone age with him. He also looks back at the most powerful and memorable moments of his long and storied life.
