Not a great history of his designs
Revisado: 11-19-22
I am not a big fan of autobiographies, as most lack humility, but I took a chance on this one and proved my instincts. The book could have been a bit better in discussing more of his designs and far less about his ranch life away from work. What I did find interesting is how his concepts of fighter designs never evolved to accommodate other advancing technologies and the US experience in Vietnam

Historia
At the end of World War II, the Soviet Union to its surprise and delight found itself in control of a huge swath of territory in Eastern Europe. Stalin and his secret police set out to convert a dozen radically different countries to Communism, a completely new political and moral system. In Iron Curtain, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anne Applebaum describes how the Communist regimes of Eastern Europe were created and what daily life was like once they were complete.

Long and repetitive
Revisado: 04-10-22
While interesting the 90 min chapters are very slow moving and repeats topics already covered in depth. The book could be less than 20hrs without miss any points. If you like Stephen King’s books, especially the longer ones he has re-issued, you will like Applebaum’s long winded and often irrelevant writing style.

The 2015 Paris and San Bernardino terrorist attacks heralded the beginning of a new wave of terrorism - one rooted in the ongoing conflict in Syria and Iraq that shows the possibility of foreign attackers working with citizens of the country. As ISIS seeks to expand its reach in the Middle East, its territory serves as a training and operations base for a new generation of jihadis.

Good overall
Revisado: 12-16-21
I liked the book and found it informative, however by 2021 it seems a bit dated and could benefit from some updates through footnotes. I also feel there is a greater validity to the author’s opinions as he is a German academic and does not seem to be pushing a specific policy proposal that the nations most at risk of a terror attack need to seek

Who were the three men the American and Soviet superpowers exchanged at Berlin’s Glienicke Bridge and Checkpoint Charlie in the first prisoner exchange of the nuclear age? Bridge of Spies vividly traces their paths to that electrifying moment on February 10, 1962, when their fates helped to define the conflicts and lethal undercurrents of the most dangerous years of the cold war.

Good overall listen
Revisado: 10-22-21
Obviously the book gives much better depth to the story than the movie of the same name and reminds entertaining. It does a very good job of summarizing both Powers book and Donovan’s of these events. I think I would have like a bit more discussion of these first of their kind negotiations and how they affected later negotiations of the next three decades.

Historia
Each year, sales professionals leave billions of dollars on the table because they are out gunned, out maneuvered, and out played by savvy buyers, who have been schooled in the art and science of negotiation. Because today's buyers have more power than ever before - more information, more at stake, and more control over the buying process-they almost always enter sales negotiations in a much stronger position than the salespeople on the other side of the table. The results are sadly predictable: Salespeople and their companies end up on the losing end of the deal.

Very good info in a great structure
Revisado: 09-30-21
The book is very good overall and really liked the structure of many short chapters to make it easy to reference again without having to use book marks. The author realistic in his presentation of the material, he is oddly not trying to sell you on his own greatness and how this book will save you, just offing up options that worked for him and likely you as well.

Good narration of a boring story
Revisado: 04-08-21
I think the author wrote this book for himself to let you know how smart he finds himself (as a Haavaad man) with his idea of relevant quotes before EVERY chapter and righteous he finds himself over the deeds he was apart of committing. His credentials as a former CIA case officer adds no insight to the story as it is only about only one data point— his single case and nothing else

Historia
Deep is a voyage from the ocean's surface to its darkest trenches, the most mysterious places on Earth. Fascinated by the sport of freediving - in which competitors descend to great depths on a single breath - James Nestor embeds with a gang of oceangoing extreme athletes and renegade researchers. He finds whales that communicate with other whales hundreds of miles away, sharks that swim in unerringly straight lines through pitch-black waters, and other strange phenomena.

The topic of free diving is not really enough to make a book but the other deep water subjects covered and what I think are tangential to the title are interesting.

The author could be described as a veteran in every sense of the word, even though he was only age 21 when the war ended. Armin Scheiderbauer served as an infantry officer with the 252nd Infantry Division, German army, and saw four years of bitter combat on the Eastern Front, being wounded six times. This is an outstanding personal memoir, written with great thoughtfulness and honesty.

Boring
Revisado: 08-26-19
Very dull story made more so by the rather deadpan narration. The author seems to still harbor Nazi sympathies and a notion they were in pursuit of a noble cause years after the fact. In order to follow the story the reader needs to understand a good bit of Wehrmacht structure and ranks in German. I think Guy Sajer’s book is much better listen.

Historia
Brandon Webb's experiences in the world's most elite sniper corps are the stuff of legend. From his grueling years of training in Naval Special Operations to his combat tours in the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan, The Red Circle provides a rare and riveting look at the inner workings of the U.S. military through the eyes of a covert operations specialist. Yet it is Webb's distinguished second career as a lead instructor for the shadowy "sniper cell" that makes his story so compelling.

Revisado: 08-01-18
Suggest skipping the book; there is less about his deployments and far more about the other parts of his life which are fairly irrelevant to the overall story line of the book to include 30 min of personal thanks to friend which I could care less about.
