Fair and balanced

This is truly an even and apolitical of an account of the Trump Presidency as is possible.

Very poor description and explanation of the 'New Athiest' positions on Islam at the end, and obviously completely underestimated WCA's ability to fight back through mis-and-disinformation campaigns.

Donald the brat
Revisado: 09-04-20
I absolutely LOVE this book!! Although I caution that, contrary to what I perceive Dr. Trump's goal of writing it may have been, it actually SOFTENED my view on Donald. I say this because, if even half of her account is accurate, I don't believe it would have even been POSSIBLE for him to grow up to be anything other than an avaricious narcissist.
I believe I would have been had I had his upbringing.
But from the viewpoint of fitness for the office, it strongly reinforces the notion that we'd be hard pressed to find any LESS-qualified person than #TRE45ON to hold the office. We could choose a San Quentin cell number at random, place its occupant in the role, and improve Presidential performance sixfold.

Historia
The Founding Fathers tried to protect us from the threat they knew, the tyranny that overcame ancient democracy. Today, our political order faces new threats, not unlike the totalitarianism of the twentieth century. We are no wiser than the Europeans who saw democracy yield to fascism, Nazism, or communism. Our one advantage is that we might learn from their experience.

Historia
Drawing on vast new data that reveal Americans' changing behavior, Putnam shows how we have become increasingly disconnected from one another and how social structures - whether they be PTA, church, or political parties - have disintegrated. Until the publication of this groundbreaking work, no one had so deftly diagnosed the harm that these broken bonds have wreaked on our physical and civic health, nor had anyone exalted their fundamental power in creating a society that is happy, healthy, and safe.

New edition!
Revisado: 06-08-19
This is such widely sourced material, I highly encourage the completion of an updated edition that would include the impact the development of digital social media has had on society, as well as legislation that increases the importance of capital in our political system, as opposed to minimizing that importance as the author argues for in this great work.

Historia
A razor-sharp thinker offers a new understanding of our post-truth world and explains the American instinct to believe in make-believe, from the Pilgrims to P. T. Barnum to Disneyland to zealots of every stripe...to Donald Trump. In this sweeping, eloquent history of America, Kurt Andersen demonstrates that what's happening in our country today - this strange, post-factual, "fake news" moment we're all living through - is not something entirely new, but rather the ultimate expression of our national character and path.

Historia
At the dawn of World War I, the United States was only a rising power. Our reputation was relatively benign among Middle Easterners, who saw no imperial ambitions in our presence and were grateful for the educational and philanthropic services Americans provided. Yet by September 11, 2001, everything had changed. The United States had now become the unquestioned target of those bent on attacking the West for its perceived offenses against Islam. How and why did this transformation come about?
