I love all things Ina and thought I knew a lot about her background but this book is full of surprises. It’s well written and beautifully narrated in her effortless style. Just like her shows, you feel like you’re chatting with a friend.

Great Listen
Revisado: 02-05-25
I really enjoyed this book. The narrator was great in bringing the different character characters to life. A narrator can make or break an audiobook. This one did a great job. The story was so interesting. It is fiction, but I had really no idea that it is based in the truth, and that there really is such a place as BP doing the kind of work they did during WW two. Amazing really. I enjoyed the others nose at the end, explaining the characters And how some of them are based on real people and somewhere added. All in all a very entertaining book.

Historia
If, like Kane, you’re a Denied Access Area spy for the CIA, then boundaries have no meaning. Your function is to go in, do whatever is required, and get out again—by whatever means necessary. You know when to run, when to hide—and when to shoot. But some places don’t play by the rules. Some places are too dangerous, even for a man of Kane’s experience. The badlands where the borders of Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan meet are such a place—a place where violence is the only way to survive.

Disappointing
Revisado: 12-01-24
I really enjoyed. I am Pilgrim so couldn’t wait for this book to come out. I liked the characters but the book had far too much blood and guts for me. The story was very convoluted. I’m also not a sci-fi fan, so when it turned in that direction, it lost me completely. I also did not enjoy the narrator. He cut off all of his “g”s in any word ending in “ing”. I’m not sure what the point of it was. Talkin, meetin, seein, runnin. Enough already.

Most enjoyable listen
Revisado: 09-11-24
Because this is based on a true story, it is even more compelling. This is a memoir of sorts, historical with a mystery. The characters are well written and engaging. The narration was one of the best I’ve listened to. Reasonable accents without being overdone. The narration really brought the story to life. The others notes at the end were so interesting.

Frustrating storyline
Revisado: 08-16-24
I really enjoyed the President’s Daughter, so thought this would be good too. Sometimes everything was so unsaid and mysterious ,it was hard to tell what was really going on. The narration was difficult to listen to. I think Dennis Quaid narrated the president (who was supposed to be 50) and sounded like he was 80.
I did not enjoy listening to this book.

Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Fascinating and interesting
Revisado: 04-22-24
I loved everything about this. I didn’t know much about it before I started. The narration was superb. I am a woman who was in the scientific workplace in the early 1970’s and it was still very chauvinistic then. The characters are really well written. The story is engaging. The narration really brings it to life. I was sorry to finish it.

Historia
A pool boy enters a secluded Bel Air property and discovers two bodies floating in the bright blue water: Gio Aggiunta, the playboy heir to an Italian shoe empire, and a gorgeous, even wealthier neighbor named Meagin March. A married neighbor. An illicit affair stoking rage is a perfect motive. But a “double” in this neighborhood of gated estates isn’t something you see every day. The house is untouched. No forced entry, no forensic evidence. The case has “that feeling,” and when that happens, Milo turns to his friend, the brilliant psychologist Alex Delaware.

Amazing final story
Revisado: 03-24-24
I’ve read all of the books and this was an amazing conclusion. I’d be curious to know how much of this (if any) was written by Lucinda before she died. I would imagine at the very least that she had written and detailed outline. I was concerned that it would be obvious that someone else had written the final book, but in my opinion, it was not. This held my attention from beginning to end, and tied up all of the loose ends of a very intricate story.
I thought the narrators did a mostly good job. it’s difficult when you have listened to an entire book about each girl in their own voices, and now in the final book, the voices are different. Cece’s voice in this book was bad. I also found it annoying that after seven books with the surname being pronounced Da-pli- ess, in this narration it was Da-pli-a-zee. Strange.
Yes, this was predictable at times, but really fun to read. Kudos to both authors for weaving this amazing story together. I loved it.

To Be Continued.....
Revisado: 02-22-24
This is actually a decent story. I also enjoyed all of the detailed history of the various Irish "troubles". Spoiler alert......you spend 20 + hours listening and there is NO resolution to most of the burning questions! It's "stay tuned for the next book, Atlas"!! Not fair. Thank goodness I didn't start reading any of them until this past year, so can move right on to the next one, otherwise I'd be pretty ticked off. Also, the NZ accent and phrasing was just awful. Jack and MK are two young people, and the author tried to throw any NZ or Aussie phrase she could think of into the writing. Young people just don't talk like that. It became really annoying. Of course I'm moving right on to Atlas so that I will hopefully get all the answers that were MISSING in book 7. No wonder they called it the Missing Sister!
