Another world, mystical forces, a dash of Sci-fi Tech, a great evil and a Apocalyptic Fate all wrapped up with links to ancient prophecies. This strange mix works blending into an interesting setting where the story takes place.

R. M. Mulder has done a good job with this book. The writing is well done crafting an interesting and engaging story. The characters actions and dialogue flow naturally and the book has good pacing to keep you listing. There are no perfect characters here they are all flawed enough to be realistic.

The narration is clear and easy to listen to Andrea Emmes gives each character a unique voice. There are some olde English bits and they are done consistently which adds to the setting rather than distracting from it. There were no errors I noticed in the recording.

I prefer the first half of the book over the second as when both myself and the characters knew less about what was going on there was more of a sense of tension and mysterious threat but the second half is still good.

All and all an interesting listen that is worth putting the hours in to.

A military Sci-Fi the base setting is nothing new for people that like Sci-Fi, yet the bits we see are handled believably and the characters fit within it. The writing and narration are solid but at times are lacking that little extra that would push it to five stars.

The base plot seems simple but the book lays some groundwork for the next book which seems like it may become something interesting later. I will be interested to see what happens next. The is clearly more to this setting than we get to see in this book and I would be interesting to learn more about it’s history and the things in it.

I am happy with the time I spent listening to this. All in all a good start and well worth this listen.

A well done and unique take on a standard issue squad based military sci-fi, the world seems to have a history yet you can happily listen to this book with no prior knowledge of the others in the series.

Andrew Beery's writing is well done with good descriptions and the word choices clearly indicates the personalities of the speaker. The style of the main character telling us about their past and side comments he makes gives us greater insight into his mind both now and then.

The narration is top notch with each character haveing a unique voice and personality. The main character is done to perfection. I will happily listen to another book narrated by Rich Miller.

All in all an enjoyable ride with a likable cast of characters get then selves in and out of trouble dealing with what the universe throws at them. Well worth a listen

This book took me by surprise by how quickly it dragged me in and held my interest. Spies, mercenaries, organised crime and a werewolf in a well written engaging story where you never sure what is going to happen next. As you find out more about what is going on it pulls you deeper

The characters are well written and narrated, they are believable. I loved the fact that each character has different knowledge and they can be contradictory or missing bits.

On the strength of this book I would be more than happy to listen to a book written by the Ferrel D. Moore or narrated by Paul Fleschner as they have both done a great job here.

A great and truly unique story that is well worth a listen.

What did you love best about Sigil Online: Paragons?

The way Jeff Hays brings the characters to life, the idea of the world. I addition the fact the scenes are well paced avoiding any overly long, dull or pointless moments. Unlike a lot of fictional MMO type games in books this one seemed to be a believable game.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jeff Sproul? Why or why not?

Yes they crafted an interesting world and I would like to see what could happen in it next. I want to know more about the world outside of the game Sigil Online.

What does Jeff Hays bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As with all good narrators Jeff Hays grabs you and immerses you in the story with distinct characters voices lending emotion and motivation to them enhancing the story beyond the mere written words. I would happy listen to any book narrated by Jeff Hays.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Live, Die, ReRoll

Any additional comments?

I have no regrets spending the time listing to this book, it was interesting and engaging. I happily finished it over too days.

Yet looking back having finished the book it feels like a little something is missing from the story as a whole, there does not feel like there is quite enough pay off at the end of the story. Like it did not have as much of an impact as I feel the author was aiming for.

I believed it could have been a better overall experience if it was longer and we had more time to get to know the characters given more time and grow attached. That being said I am looking forward to see if there is a sequel as I liked the setting. I would like to know more about the world out side of the game as some things are hinted at but without a bit more context about what is normal it is hard to judge what it all means.

In summery
Worth giving a go. It is a well ordered and paced story that is interesting to listen too but would be better with a bit more depth and background. A solid 4/5.
