Historia
The Will to Power is an audiobook of notes compiled from the literary remains of Friedrich Nietzsche. The title derives from a work that Nietzsche himself had intended to write. The "will to power", a prominent concept in his philosophy, describes what Nietzsche believed to be the main driving force in humans.

Poor narration
Revisado: 11-15-21
The narrator starts at a fair reading pace with care for voice inflection, but as the book progresses it becomes obvious that he is simply trying to get the job finished. At 5 hours, the pace is so frenzied that Nietzsche's incredible writing is not effectively communicated and the audiobook becomes an irritant. This was quite disappointing, but a big THANK YOU to Audible for providing subscribers the choice to return a book. I chose the other Will to Power narrated by Michael Luntz and the sample was 100% better. I plan to follow this by the The Great Courses analysis of this important book.

Historia
Celeste Price is an eighth-grade English teacher in suburban Tampa. But Celeste's devotion lies elsewhere. She has a singular sexual obsession: 14-year-old boys. In slaking her sexual thirst, Celeste Price is remorseless and deviously free of hesitation, a monstress driven by pure motivation. She deceives everyone, and cares nothing for anyone or anything but her own pleasure. With crackling, rampantly unadulterated prose, Tampa is a grand, uncompromising, seriocomic examination of want and a scorching literary debut.

Masterful narration and excellent writing.
Revisado: 06-27-20
A difficult subject presented in a wonderfully crafted novel. Inspired by a real life court drama, Nutting creates a fictional sexually obsessed protagonist and shares insights into possible motivations and complexities. McInerney provides a peerless narration and I will be listening to more of her work. Highly recommended.

Boring, unbelievable, with EXCELLENT Narration
Revisado: 01-08-18
What did you like best about Silent Child? What did you like least?
Best: The narration. Wonderful voicing and concentration by a wonderful performer. Least: Long drawn out introspection by the very weak protagonist. The ending was absurd. I could explain, but that would be a spoiler.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I don't know. It seems that I can't rely upon the Audible featured reviews. The bad reviews are typically hidden way down on the list.
Have you listened to any of Joanne Froggatt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, and she is one of the very best narrators!
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Absolutely not.
Any additional comments?
This book probably should not have been released in an Audible format.

Historia
Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man—a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

Flows well, but who the heck is the protagonist?
Revisado: 04-08-17
What did you like best about The Gray Man? What did you like least?
The ball keeps rolling, action scenes were great, suspense was developed. Least: "The Gray Man" is markedly undeveloped. We get sketchy descriptors but essentially no inner reflections or expansion upon 'who is this man?'. This book pales in comparison to the rich character development of Jack Reacher. The narration is first rate, thank you Jay Snyder.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Suspenseful chase scene that spans the entire book. The least: absence of development of personalities.
Which scene was your favorite?
The knife attack scene in the alley.
Did The Gray Man inspire you to do anything?
Nope.
Any additional comments?
A good editor would have returned the book to the author with a demand for protagonist development. This was actually a glaring error.

Historia
There are few characters in literature more iconic than J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up. Originally introduced in 1902 in another Barrie novel (The Little White Bird), Peter's story was expanded as a standalone novel in 1911 and since then has been memorably adapted for the movies, for television, and for stage.
Now, actress Lily Collins (The Blind Side, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) brings new, youthful energy to Peter's magical adventures.

Revisado: 03-23-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Oh yes. A story and presentation to immerse yourself. Lily Collins is first rate and brings the wonderful story to life. Never a let down in presentation.
What did you like best about this story?
The magic of childhood and imagination. The freedom that the author utilizes in creating a world i wanted to visit.
Which character – as performed by Lily Collins – was your favorite?
Wendy.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The ending, that wasn't an ending.
Any additional comments?
Lily Collins was perfect as a narrator. This was a true treasure and I want her to know her work was appreciated. Very Special.

Historia
Welcome to winter in Three Pines, a picturesque village in Quebec, where the villagers are preparing for a traditional country Christmas, and someone is preparing for murder. No one liked CC de Poitiers. Not her quiet husband, not her spineless lover, not her pathetic daughter - and certainly none of the residents of Three Pines. CC de Poitiers managed to alienate everyone, right up until the moment of her death. When Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, of the Sûreté du Quebec, is called to investigate, he quickly realizes he's dealing with someone quite extraordinary.

Narrator was very difficult to understand
Revisado: 12-03-15
Would you try another book from Louise Penny and/or Ralph Cosham?
No. I found Ralph Cosham to be a problematic narrator. It was obvious that Cosham was engaged in his reading and enjoyment of the excellent book, but the problem was a lack of modulation and a too rapid verbal delivery. This was the first audio book that I slowed to .5x speed with pretty good success.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Claire, multi-faceted and engaging protagonist, with her own issues!
Would you be willing to try another one of Ralph Cosham’s performances?
No, I have listened to hundreds of audio books, and Mr. Cosham's talking velocity was too fast, and lacked sufficient modulation. Sentences would frequently become nearly inaudible as he tried to convey a plot subtlety.
Could you see A Fatal Grace being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Let's leave it a book. I watched the first Canadian adaptation and found it lacked the personalities of the characters Penny created.
Any additional comments?
Not one of my best purchases.

Historia
At middle age, Herb and Nancy Payson decided they needed a change. Why not give up life on shore, quit their jobs in the smoky nightclubs of Los Angeles, and take up the cruising life? In Sea Foam, their 36-foot ketch, the Paysons and their large brood of teenage children cruised the Pacific for six and a half years. They experienced a certain amount of stark terror, but their delights far outbalanced the drawbacks. This special 35th anniversary edition is enhanced with a foreword by Lin Pardey, plus Herb's reflections on how cruising affected his children and his relationship with his determined, lifelong partner/wife Nancy.

Engaging, initially bad narration that improves!
Revisado: 09-26-15
If you could sum up Blown Away in three words, what would they be?
Witty, informative, exciting.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Blown Away?
Finding the author's sailboat, after a very long search.
Have you listened to any of Nick Hahn’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. I was initially disappointed and perplexed about Nick's narration....choppy, very very slow, unmodulated. As the book progresses Nick appears to get in the flow and spirit and the reading is quite good. If I was the producer, I would have told Nick to re-narrate the first half.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I enjoy going to sleep listening to 60 minute segments.

One of the best narrators I've heard
Revisado: 05-17-15
Where does Blue Water, Green Skipper rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the very best. Both the narrator, Steven Collins, and the author, Stuart Woods, provide huge entertainment and information value.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Blue Water, Green Skipper?
The account by one of the best single handed sailors, who nearly fell off his boat, and after getting back on deck, sat and broke down in tears at the realization of his near demise.
Which scene was your favorite?
The early evolution of the author's sailing skills, especially racing children!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Smile, especially in the first fourth of the book.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, there are many better choices.
What was most disappointing about Andy Weir’s story?
The author couldn't 'keep the ball rolling' to maintain my interest.
Which scene was your favorite?
The setting up scene when the protagonist faces being abandoned.
Do you think The Martian needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No, this was plenty.
