Historia
This wasn’t the plan. Judge Herman Calvert, 88, never thought he’d outlive his beloved wife, Marie. Yet now he finds himself alone, a grieving widower, desperate for escape from the home they built together, where every turn brings a painful reminder of his late wife. So the judge retreats to his lake cabin in rural Wisconsin, a place where an old man can find peace and solitude. A place where nature can take its course. But something new has moved in.

This is the best horror story I've heard in a long time impeccably read by Kevin Bacon. Don't miss this one!

What a shame
Revisado: 08-15-21
Unfortunately, while the stories were great as far as I got, the narrator wasn't. I was unable to listen after three stories.

Historia
Felix Allsey is a travel writer with a keen eye for the paranormal, and he's carved out a unique, if only slightly lucrative, niche for himself in nonfiction; he writes travelogues of the country's most haunted places, after haunting them himself. When he convinces the owner of the infamous Rotterdam Mansion to let him stay on the premises for two weeks, he believes he's finally found the location that will bring him a best seller. Then things start going wrong: screams from upstairs, figures in the thresholds, and more than what should be in any basement.

Finally
Revisado: 03-05-20
Now THAT is what I call a great ghost(s)/horror story. I absolutely loved it. It had an unexpected, gaspable ending for me where I was yelling, "Wait!!! What?!? Holy Smokes!!!" I will definitely be searching for more books by J.W. Ocker. I also liked the narrator, Matt Godfrey, very much and would be more than happy to listen to his narration any time. I'll be listening to this one again as I loved the story, the two main characters, the horror and the humor throughout.

Historia
The Norfolk coast made for a perfect holiday - as long as the sun still shone. But when the rain came, the creatures left the shadows. Spectres from the past tortured James Hildebrand's mind. His blackest nightmares were crowded with malevolent, coiling images of decay. Then, suddenly, he knew the threat was real. The dead alone could not quench their hunger. And, for the living, the horrors that fed and multiplied in the darkness of the night became more terrible with the dawn.

That was a fun listen!
Revisado: 02-22-18
I listened to these stories while hand looming and watching a storm roll in ushered abruotly along by very stiff winds. It was great fun. These are not horror stories but rather interesting stories about paranormal activities. I truly enjoyed them. There are places I have never heard of before that I will look up to learn more about - Mt.Tarrawera in New Zealand, Epping Forest in Great Britain. There are manifestations I have never heard about from dolls to boxes. I personally liked the narrator. He spoke very clearly so all I had to do was listen! I am glad I purchased this book - again, a fun and interesting read.

Historia
In 1518, in a small town in Alsace, Frau Troffea began dancing and didn't stop. She danced until she was carried away six days later, and soon 34 more villagers joined her. Then more. In a month more than 400 people had been stricken by the mysterious dancing plague. In late-19th-century England an eccentric gentleman founded the No Nose Club in his gracious townhome - a social club for those who had lost their noses, and other body parts, to the plague of syphilis for which there was then no cure.

Very Interesting but...
Revisado: 08-05-17
I would have preferred to have read the book as the narrator, who at times had a nice speaking voice, at other times she had a very harsh, loud, grating and rather unpleasant voice that literally would startle me. I couldn't finish the book because of it. I don't like to downgrade the book itself because I was very interested in the subject matter and the style of writing was good but the audible part was not for me at all.

At 28,251 feet, K2 might be almost 800 feet shorter than Everest, but it’s a far harder climb. It will kill you on the way up and the way down. Mick Conefrey guides us through the early story of the legendary mountain and the extraordinary attempts that led up to its first ascent in 1954 - these are tales of riveting drama and unimaginable tragedy.
