Historia
Millions of dungeons inhabit the planet, utilizing the Human people as a source of much-needed Mana to facilitate their own growth; in turn, the humans delve into the dungeons to acquire their own power in the form of Essence, which allows them to develop and enhance themselves in a multitude of different ways. It is a symbiotic relationship that has lasted thousands of years and has brought about a measure of peace.

1 dimensional characters
Revisado: 07-20-24
I had to drop the book after the start of book 3 because the characters just, aren't interesting and the abilities aren't very fun. MC is all "haha i don't know what anything is" and the first woman to meet him basically instantly falls in love with him for some reason???
Also like, if you're gonna write a story that focuses more on the magic than the characters, at least make the magic interesting. not really a fan of magical faction based racism as the basis for all plot lmao

Historia
Cambridge professor Emily Wilde is good at many things: She is the foremost expert on the study of faeries. She is a genius scholar and a meticulous researcher who is writing the world’s first encyclopaedia of faerie lore. But Emily Wilde is not good at people. She could never make small talk at a party—or even get invited to one. And she prefers the company of her books, her dog, Shadow, and the Fair Folk to other people. So when she arrives in the hardscrabble village of Hrafnsvik, Emily has no intention of befriending the gruff townsfolk.

The story had charm…
Revisado: 06-12-24
In all the meanings of that word. Unexpected and well done. Voice was terrific and the story maintained just the right sense of oddity and danger without the threat of the end of the world. Makes a good listen over a decent second breakfast.

Historia
The war raged across the galaxy. Billions had died, billions more were doomed. Moons, planets, the very stars themselves, faced destruction, cold-blooded, brutal, and worse, random. The Idirans fought for their Faith; the Culture for its moral right to exist. Principles were at stake. There could be no surrender. Within the cosmic conflict, an individual crusade. Deep within a fabled labyrinth on a barren world, a Planet of the Dead proscribed to mortals, lay a fugitive Mind. Both the Culture and the Idirans sought it....

Very engaging performance…
Revisado: 01-18-24
The story is excellent, and the reading was very immersive, sometimes difficult in sci-fi and fantasy. I like the implied optimism of sci-fi. To get to that, we have to get through this…

Well researched but falls short
Revisado: 10-25-23
Bio Dungeon has an amazing premise but throughout the story it felt like multiple plot threads were forgotten about. Because of the focus on the plot for the human host, it felt like the dungeon core was fighting a never ending battle and then never got what he wanted in the end, or even ever spoke to Marstin. Also despite being a dungeon core inside a living organism and having basically total biokinesis, there is no transhumanism or real enhancement for Marstin. :(

Historia
War has come to Discworld...again. And, to no one's great surprise, the conflict centers around the small, insufferably arrogant, strictly fundamentalist duchy of Borogravia, which has long prided itself on its ability to beat up on its neighbors. This time, however, it's Borogravia that's getting its long-overdue comeuppance, which has left the country severely drained of young men.

Very satisfactory.
Revisado: 08-08-22
The narration was absolutely excellent, and the story, while not my favorite, was nevertheless well worth my time and satisfying like a good cup of tea. Not a ton of caloric content, but afterwards I felt better about the world and ready to face whatever the hell this is that’s coming up the road.

Historia
The Moon will soon return. Whether this heralds the destruction of humankind or something worse will depend on two women. Essun has inherited the power of Alabaster Tenring. With it, she hopes to find her daughter Nassun and forge a world in which every orogene child can grow up safe. For Nassun, her mother's mastery of the Obelisk Gate comes too late. She has seen the evil of the world, and accepted what her mother will not admit: That sometimes what is corrupt cannot be cleansed, only destroyed.

Beautifully written, beautifully performed.
Revisado: 12-21-20
I enjoyed the story in its entirety - the language, the characters the world, the reading of those elements. Thank you ta all involved and an especial thank you to NKJemisin for a really engaging read. The first book I listened to whenever I could. By the time I got to the last book, I listened only on my commute to make it last longer...
