Unexpected twist!
Revisado: 02-02-25
Well done small book. I think it is a well-written suspenseful mystery that I am glad I downloaded from the catalog to try. I believe the ending was very lackluster though. I didn't see the conclusion of the disappearance coming. I suspected the ex had more involvement than she did. It was a great distraction and easy listen. I am giving it a 3.5 star rating and will be looking for more books by this author.

I will have to purchase a physical copy of this classic. I really enjoyed this book and can understand why it is a much loved classic. It is a fantastic, well-written, easy to imagine, easily relatable classic historical romance. I am so glad it was one of the classics I chose to read/listened to.

With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

Revisado: 01-05-25
I absolutely loved this book! I enjoyed the writing, the characters, and the world. I was able to feel everything the characters felt and imagine being on lovers' lane or the house at Green Gables. My heart absolutely broke at one major point, and I definitely am so glad I chose this to be my first classic of 2025.

Historical Scottish Romance
Revisado: 12-23-24
I've been wanting to read this book for a while. I knew it would be something that I would enjoy. because the only romances I like are historical ones. I knew this was supposed to be the epitome of historical romance. i really enjoyed that. This is also a fantasy book. As well as a historical romance, the world building and the character building we're very well done. It's very easy to imagine yourself there and very easy to relate to the characters.I will definitely be getting the physical copies of these books and reading the rest of them.

For plain and pure imaginative delight, Treasure Island is unsurpassed. From the moment narrator Jim Hawkins meets the blind pirate Pew at the Admiral Benbow Inn until the spirited battle for hidden treasure on a tropic island, the novel spawns unforgettable scenes and characters that have thrilled readers young and old since its original publication in 1883.

Classic
Revisado: 12-20-24
This is a classic pirate story of good and evil. I have read it before but wanted something to listen to while working. This was a nice reprieve. It's not my favorite classic but it is a nice short story to escape reality.

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Not a children's book!
Revisado: 12-19-24
This book is definitely not what I was expecting. I really enjoyed the Broadway show. I was expecting the book to be like that. Now, in some ways it is like the show but completely uncut and vulgar. Many people are purchasing this book for their children after having watched the movie. My belief is this is a book that should be read prior to giving it to a child. There are some very mature children that could read this book and not let it affect them. I believe though it shouldn't be read by anyone under the age of 16. It is a really screwed up book in my opinion and the audio narrator is not whom I would have chosen. I am giving this book a 2.75 and will probably never read it again.

New Fan of Historical Fiction
Revisado: 12-17-24
So, in the past week I have read and listened to my first 2 historical fictions that I can recall. This one and The Women by Kristin Hannah. I've discovered a love for historical fictions. I didn't think these would be something I would enjoy but I was wrong. The things the people had to endure during the wars that take place in these books is so intriguing and heartbreaking. I can't wait to read Madeline Martin's other books. I hope that the rest are just as great.

Revisado: 12-13-24
All I can say, is this book is so incredibly well written! I have not read/listened to a whole lot of historical fiction books. My mother recommended this book to me and I am do glad I listened to her. This is definitely a book I will recommend to so many. This book was heartbreaking in so many moments but also was so incredibly awe inspiring. I will have to get the physical copy of this one now so I can reread it! Kristin Hannah is a force to be reckoned with she is so talented. They were there!!

Worth the hype?
Revisado: 12-11-24
So, I have seen this book mentioned so many times since it debuted. i thought it was probably like most other books overhyped and just not even worth the read, but then I read The boyfriend. I thought, okay. I mean, she's a pretty good author so let's try some other books and I'm glad I did because I enjoy this book as well. She is very good at writing psychological thrillers. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books. add, give this a solid 3.75 stars.
