The Grimlocks are my favorite of Amanda M. Lee’s characters. The Death Gate series is, in turn, my new favorite! This was the best one so far!

I read The Crush in 2004. It was one of my favorites. I decided to revisit it with the audio version. I’m so glad I did. Tom Wopat made the characters come to life! I highly recommend!

Excellent actor narration!

It’s refreshing to listen to a great book with characters from New Orleans who do not have a southern drawl. Great storyline. Ofelia and Sully’s relationship is special. I love how they interact and care for each other. I was surprised that I liked Sully’s mother.

Lovely

Carolyn Brown doesn’t disappoint. Her stories are sweet. Yes, they’re a bit predictable, but they are well written. This is an enjoyable escape from the not so nice real world. The Lullaby Sky deals with abused women who are getting away from their abusers. The only downside of this book is Sophie. She’s going on six, but sounds and speaks like a much younger child.

I did not watch the movie, but decided to read/listen to the book instead. I loved it! The narrator is fantastic at making the characters come to life. The storyline is really engaging. The ending was not want I expected. Now it would be nice to have a sequel.

Elicia Hyder is an amazing author who doesn’t disappoint with The Guardian. She’ll take you on a journey that will keep you listening and not wanting to stop. Ruell’s English translations are hysterical. This book hits all the emotions. I liked Fury before, but now she’s one of my favorite characters. The ending is quite the surprise. Don’t hesitate! Get this book!

Worth the wait!

I held out for the audio version. Glad I did. The actress is perfect for the part. I’m from south Louisiana. Even though she mispronounces some of the local names, she brings the characters to life! Jana DeLeon is an amazing author who keeps the characters growing without getting stale. Looking forward to the next installment.

I binged the first 4 books of the series and thought this would be the last for a while. There is no real cliffhanger at the end, but Ms. DeLeon leaves the reader wanting more. On to book Unseen!

Thought Provoking

After reading the reviews, I am very grateful that I was able to listen to this book. The actress was able to portray the innocence of Eleanor. I can see how one who reads this book can see her as judgemental. She just doesn’t know better due to her upbringing. As she progresses we see why she is the way she is. This book peaked my interest even with parts that lagged in the first half. Eleanor is lacking in social skills. She finds it hard to read people and takes things literally which literally made me laugh out loud at times. This book invokes all emotions. The mystique of her past and what caused her to be this way kept me listening and eager to get back to it when I’d been unable to listen. Gail Honeyman has an intriguing way of writing. Eleanore’s hardships, past, transformation, and growth keep the reader interested. It makes one realize we never know why people are the way they are and have no idea what anyone is going through.
