The president knows it's a perilous, high-risk assignment. If he gives the order, he has the opportunity to take down a global menace, once and for all. If the mission fails, he would face certain impeachment, and the threats against the nation would multiply. So the president turns to the one team that can pull off the impossible: Will Robie and his partner, Jessica Reel. Together, Robie and Reel's talents as assassins are unmatched. But there are some in power who don't trust the pair.

Revisado: 07-25-19
Great plot with lots of action. #3 in series, but my first introduction to the characters. Liked how the main characters shared time with the main antagonist, whom I wound up rooting for them to get a good ending.
Love the international intrigue. Author does much cultural informing, so I may have learned a bit, as well as being well entertained.
Very good narration.
Gonna go get #1 in the series & listen now!

Author's Best!! Love Scott Brick's narration!
Revisado: 07-05-19
Nelson DeMille says the book he thinks is his best is "Gold Coast" (which IS very good!), but this book caused my most emotional reaction to the end AND to the characters internal struggle.
Though deployed once, I have never been in combat and was born during Vietnam, it seemed to me, that DeMille covered a great many, if not most, of the possible experiences and reactions of veterans of that war.
The central character's struggle with duty, honor, loyalty and truth was breathtaking!!

If possible, even better than "The Gold Coast".
Revisado: 03-10-19
Much more developed characters, especially John and Susan Sutter. John is even funnier and yet also more mature, shading to noble. Susan is more likeable, she's grown too.
A more satisfying and happier end that ties everything up.

Historia
Germany, 1660: When a dying boy is pulled from the river with a mark crudely tattooed on his shoulder, hangman Jakob Kuisl is called upon to investigate whether witchcraft is at play in his small Bavarian town. Whispers and dark memories of witch trials and the women burned at the stake just seventy years earlier still haunt the streets of Schongau.

Thoroughly enjoyable with suspenseful drama.
Revisado: 07-01-18
Loved this fictitious history of 17th century Schoengal (sp?) Germany which the author based on his own family's ancestral occupations of hangman and herbalist.
The narration is pleasant with varied characterisation and the sound quality is good.
A great series for fans of dramatized history.

Historia
Half-Korean, half-Japanese, Masaji Ishikawa has spent his whole life feeling like a man without a country. This feeling only deepened when his family moved from Japan to North Korea when Ishikawa was just thirteen years old, and unwittingly became members of the lowest social caste. His father, himself a Korean national, was lured to the new Communist country by promises of abundant work, education for his children, and a higher station in society. But the reality of their new life was far from utopian.

EVERY Freedom loving person needs to read this
Revisado: 06-25-18
EVERY person who thinks socialism or any form of Marxism is a good idea really needs to read this book!!!
Along with "Life and Death in Shanghai" this biographical account exposes the myth of the "good ideal" of any form of Marxism.
In reality only the most cruel, brutish, illogical and inhumane "societal devolution" results; as the author bears witness.

Great read. Not Christian, has 3 "R" rated scenes,
Revisado: 04-23-18
but otherwise strong morally & ethically, harkens back to the classic Western, with a tough, deep, determined, dedicated, tenacious female lead & thoroughly modern police/crime drama/mystery.
Strong, clear. yet intricate plot, full-bodied characters, thrilling & surprising twists, finishing with a satisfying conclusion.
I listened to the 2nd in this series 1st just because it popped up in Kindle Unlimited a few months ago & loved it, so when I saw the rest of the series the other day I grabbed them all!!!
Anyone who likes a good mystery/crime drama will love this one. Male author seems (to this male) to get the female mindset & emotions right (or at least relatable to the male mind, 😎). Robert Dugoni is one author whose work I will be checking out every time I see one!
