Part grimoire, part penny dreadful, all magical!

What a great book! Gothic, historical. Great character development. I really felt I knew these women. It had everything-history, ghosts, and wonderful folk magic references! Beautifully written and read/acted. This one didn’t disappoint!

JUSTICE FOR MARY MAGDALENE! 😊 I enjoyed this book immensely. Nice balance between anecdotes /storytelling and citations from both mainstream scripture and “the forgotten ones.” The author’s desire to “fill in the gaps” in the traditional understanding of early Christianity mirrored my deepest curiosity about the same. I like that she presents the information without strong derision or censure, but with humor, excellent research, and strong understanding. Bravo.

A wonderful book for history buffs and lovers of adventure/romance alike. Lyrical descriptions, wonderful characters, and a nice mature depiction of a romance (it’s sexy, but not “Harlequin-romancy”)

Such a disappointment

Excellent resource for BASIC information.

This was a well-written, concise, and useful book for basic information. However, if you are looking, as I was, for a bit more in-depth information, personal anecdotes, and/or experiences, this is not the book for you. Also, there is a lot of information about protecting oneself from the negative aspects of the energy of the world. As if the empath/HSP is fated to be a victim to these influences, and “accept their fate” and “learn to deal with it”. As this has not been my personal experience, I would have enjoyed the book more if it took a more positive (or balanced) approach.
