Historia
Gary and Clare Kirk are set to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary...except they’re not. Childless, and with so little in common, the couple finally accept there’s no good reason to remain married. However, Gary’s idea of an amicable divorce settlement differs significantly from Clare’s, and tensions between the couple soon mount. Money, as is often the case, is at the root of their disagreement. As Gary explores every avenue to evade his wife’s financial demands, he inadvertently finds himself sitting opposite a relationship resolution advisor by the name of Edith Stimp.

Fun story that doesn't make your brain hurt or your heart ache
Revisado: 12-06-23
This is the second time travel book that I have read from this author, and I really enjoyed it! The concept of revisiting and reliving your own past in the hopes of bettering your future is a fun thought experience. I enjoy reading time travel books that are set in modern times like this one. The book is more about personal growth than the science of time travel or experiencing historical events. The characters and conflicts are relatable, and the story is engaging. I enjoyed the narrator, and the book was a fun, easy read- life lessons but nothing too heavy for the mind and heart. Sometimes you just want a good story that does not make your brain hurt or your heart ache and this author is great for that!

Historia
Cassandra McMurtrey has the best parents a girl could ask for; they’ve given Cass a life she wouldn’t trade for the world. She has everything she needs - but she has questions, too. Like, to know who she is. Where she came from. Questions her adoptive parents can’t answer, no matter how much they love her. But 18 years ago, someone wrote Cass a series of letters. And they may just hold the answers Cass has been searching for.

Awesome for Young and Old
Revisado: 04-06-21
The book has soul; it left me feeling pensive. The two female narrators are Yin and Yang- the syrupy sweet voice of the adopted teen is perfectly balanced with the raspy, cool, and sometimes wistful voice of the mom who gave her up for adoption. The book left me wanting to start writing again, even if it is just for myself. I related to the parents in this novel and it reminded me of the Elizabeth Stone quote, "Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." Parenthood can be a rollercoaster with more lows than highs, more tears than smiles, and it requires enormous sacrifice. There are vastly different ways parents sacrifice for their children, but The How and the Why teaches us the greater the love, the greater the sacrifices you are willing to make. It also highlights how much we are strengthened and often transformed when we are on the receiving end of someone else's love and sacrifice.

Lovely story that makes you appreciate memories
Revisado: 02-21-20
A great reminder for the middle-aged mom of how we are shaped by our experiences and how love changes over time. This book teaches us that although youth and new love can be exhilarating, there is something to be said about the old as well. It's easy to love the new baby in your arms or the early days of a relationship, but motherhood and marriage can be hard work as the years pass by. However, all the experiences and memories that we make, all the obstacles we overcome, deepen our love and bind us to one another.

Historia
One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, a genius; Gail Wynand, a newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire; and Dominique Francon, a devastating beauty.

The Fountainhead Journey
Revisado: 02-19-19
I'm on a quest to read as many classics as possible. I found this one was engaging and evoked many emotions. The story and characters are complex and the writing is incredible. I'm not sure that I subscribe to all of the ideas in this book, but I can say that it made me think deeply about a myriad of topics. I think that is the measure of good literature.
