The performance was terrible. It's an open source recording done by amateurs. These recordings are available for free on librivox. Audible hear traffic noise in the background. The chapters are jumbled up in some cases, so you can't even listen to a book from start to finish.

How could the performance have been better?
Any narrator could have done a better job than Roy Dotrice. It was dismal. I couldn't even listen. I wish I hadn't bought all the books before hearing how hopeless this guys is.

What did you like best about this story?
The story was great! Intriguing and exciting.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Roy Dotrice?
ANYONE but him. That was the worst narration I've ever heard. I listened for half an hour and then gave up. I wish I hadn't bought all of them before listening!!
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Of course. The book is amazing. Definitely worth a read. I'm just going to have to take the time to read it myself.

What a great book! I wish I'd read it back when I was 14. I would have been completely obsessed :)
If you want to know what to read next... I would thoroughly recommend the 'Tomorrow When the War Began' series by John Marsden.
