What made the experience of listening to Kage Unleashed the most enjoyable?
The intensity of honest emotion Maris Black skillfully manages to create between Kage and his naive obsession, Jamie, is honestly equal to anything I've read in modern fiction, and surpasses the cardboard characterizations in most erotic writing by a country mile. Ms. Black is an artist who'll take your breath away!
What did you like best about this story?
No question, the efforts the inexperienced Jamie makes to keep abreast of his flooding passion for Kage, not only his first homoerotic experience, but a love far surpassing any other he's known, surprise and touch the reader as they do Jamie himself. Rare indeed to see this kind of fiction reach the heart as quickly as the groin!
What does J. F. Harding bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His vocal characterizations here are amazingly versatile. Kage is a simmering masterpiece of sexual growling; hard to believe that Jamie, aching to explore the heretofore-unimaginable delights of male/male love, could be voiced so convincingly by the same actor! Superb work, Mr. Harding!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The very last line's killer. "Breathtaking" is an adjective sadly overused, and rarely earned. Harding and Black honestly nail it here. When you read this book, make sure you schedule yourself some free time after you've completed it -- you'll surely need to pick yourself up and dust yourself off!

Galloping quickly to the third and final volume now. Can't wait to see what surprises these masterful artists have in store for us here in the finale. I keep thinking what a shame most current gay erotic cinema is so denatured and bloodless. This material has the potential to inspire films to rival Genet!

What would have made Baby Doll better?
Some editor should've pointed out to Ms. Overton her frequent errors in both procedure and psychology. Impossible not to lose patience with cardboard characters and unbelievable behavior.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Any thriller that doesn't boast a threadbare plot of a missing protagonist returning home after long absence/captivity, etc. (Readers aching for a first-rate treatment of this subject should take a look at Josephine Tey's mastertul BRAT FERRAR, also on Audible.)
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Laurence Bouvard?
A performer who could manage believable characterizations for different sexes, ages, etc.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Baby Doll?
The confrontation/arrest of the kidnapper is so completely unbelievable, this entire sequence needed to be severely rethought and rewritten.

Ms. Overton has heart, ability, and will undoubtedly gain skills as her career progresses that will enable her to sidestep some of the problems on display here. With fresher ideas and more thorough research, another novel by her could easily be a pleasure.
