Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend to a friend interested in erotica. It's difficult to know exactly what someone else would like, so having such a diverse selection is a real bonus. My moods change from night to night, too.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I just love Cowboy Jack. He has his own audiobook elsewhere, and I have that on frequent repeat. There's something about the laughing trickster that never gets old.

Which scene was your favorite?

Beef stew in the kitchen, rope play in the bedroom. Yes, sir. Bound for your pleasure and mine, Cowboy Jack.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Unfortunately, I fall asleep when relaxed, so it took a few tries. Luckily I'm nothing if not determined.

Would you listen to Anew again? Why?

Yes. Now that I know where the story goes, I want to see how the author got there again. It was far from predictable -- just fascinating.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Anew?

The blood, actually. It was such a shock for the story to take a brutally real turn. But "the blood" may not signify what you think . . . .

Which character – as performed by The Grey Knight – was your favorite?

I certainly identified with the woman, but the man was more memorable. He had a Terminator quality that was simply chilling.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Laughter.

Any additional comments?

Th author (The Grey Knight) knows how to put a story together. This is a good one, but the additional layer of exploration into the psychology behind such a relationship is what gives it the extra meaning. Very well done. Quite scary, actually.

"There we go."

What other book might you compare The Cowboy Jack Attack Pack to and why?

It's as if Fanny Hill (Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure) were invaded by Reynard in a cowboy hat. There's the classic trickster character, the erotic depravities, and the underlying laughter at the plot twists. It's all just pure fun, but it's still hot, hot, hot.

Which character – as performed by The Grey Knight – was your favorite?

Oh, Cowboy Jack, don't you ever change, darlin'.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but what you end up doing with the rope in "Rodeo" made me laugh out loud.

Any additional comments?

We all need more Cowboy Jack. The author has said he needs to be in just the right frame of mind to do these stories, so if we're lucky, that circumstance will come around again and again.

Would you listen to DDlg Volume 1: The Best of Daddy Dom and Little Girl Roleplay again? Why?

Most definitely. I have listened a few times, whether for pleasure or for trying to make sense of the dynamic between individuals involved in this sort of play, or for both. This stands up to repeated listening quite well.

What other book might you compare DDlg Volume 1: The Best of Daddy Dom and Little Girl Roleplay to and why?

In audio erotica, this would be most like the BDSM set from the same author. In general, though, it reminds me of The Collected Stories of Colette. Each is a little world unto itself, and the power play and actions referenced in the stories are one more way to explore the intimate relationship between two people. There is explicit sex, yes, but there is sweetness, and bitterness, and despair, and hopeful tenderness.

What does The Grey Knight bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think DD/lg stories as a whole are made to be listened to, not read in print. The dynamic is about giving up control, not keeping it, and not being in charge of the speed, pacing, intonations, and such makes the storyline more powerful. Lying back and listening to a commanding deep voice take control? Nothing else like it, especially for erotica.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Night Light: "I know when my little girl needs me. I know when my little girl needs her Daddy. When he can make everything all better, just like that night light." What a beautiful voice, and what a beautiful sentiment. Makes me smile every time.

Any additional comments?

I'm glad this author has posted sets of stories from different subgenres in audio erotica, because even if DD/lg isn't your cup of tea, you're sure to find something. It's hard to find something more superficially different from this set than, say, "Cowboy Jack," whose trickster stories are a mythos all to themselves. Be sure to check out the other offerings, too.

Would you listen to Self: You, the Monster and Me again? Why?

Yes, certainly. The slow build catches me every time. I've listened to this story while making supper, while driving a good stretch, and while lying alone in the dark. Each time I notice new things, and the impact hits at varying places. For the first, the domesticity of the setup and how such a small ordinary day can be hiding deep currents. As for the second, it was a good time to think about male sexuality and what dominance and submission bring to a relationship. The last? Just plain fun. It's certainly good for that, too.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I do love the monster. He is terrifying and insistent, and he's wounded and brave. He wants to survive. It's hard to find a way to survive when you aren't necessarily wanted, or even when you are, if you don't fit easily into a tidy little world. The narrator and the partner are complex individuals, but the monster is just blunt force and need. How that works out between the three of them in the dark of the mind and the bedroom takes the full 35 minutes to explore.

Which scene was your favorite?

I always seem to remember the setup of the dinner. The selection of the suit (and I really want to know the exact color alluded to), the choice of what to cook for her, the domestic duties knocked off one by one. It was preparation, and it was planning, and it was the perfect insistence of the monster to set out every last piece on the chessboard.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did, each time I listened. It's hard to stop that roller coaster.

This piece is more than worth the price. It stands up to repeated listening, and you'll find yourself going back for more. It's also perhaps the best introduction to this author's work currently available here.

Would you listen to BDSM again? Why?

Absolutely. It's nearly two full hours of -- not to put too fine a point on it -- intellectual fuckplay, and that's hot. Erotic audio is all about sound cues and the hindbrain, those little or big noises that pull your feet out from under you. BDSM has the deep nuanced male voice, the growls and commanding voice, and the gentle tenderness at times, too.

This is all coupled with storylines that attest to the thought and care of building believable characters leading lives that ring true, even with a side order of kink. There's something to think about with each one. I find myself listening for different things at different times, and that's only possible because there are multiple layers with each story.

What other book might you compare BDSM to and why?

Honestly, this is a difficult author to compare to others. His 35 minute "Self: You, the Monster, and Me" pulls together many of the elements of these six pieces: the "monster" of dominant male sexuality, self-presentation and self-consciousness in the sexual arena, negotiating the rough edges of a relationship, and how two people find their way to a different space together. It's fun, it's sexy, and it's smart, just like this set of pieces.

Have you listened to any of The Grey Knight’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The production quality is always high, and the storytelling is always top-notch. This collection stays at that standard.

If you've never tried out erotic audio and are interested in power dynamics, this is an excellent start. If you are already into BDSM and erotic audio, well, what on earth are you waiting for?
