Though arcstone, the material that powered most of the world’s devices, could only be found in the dungeon, they still had plenty on hand. The doors would open again, surely. Then the anomalies began to appear. Snatching up people, never to be seen again. This was the world Phineas Lenville was born into thirty years later.

Some spoilers…………………… at one point there is a hearing for taxes not being paid so land would be taken. However the judge ruled that since the mayor isn’t a real mayor any taxes he put into place are only paid voluntarily, but because the law is that land is to be used by the needing people, that the land can be taken. If the fake mayor makes a fake tax code, then any law they say is also fake. And I don’t think we could have found two greater monotone narrators if we tried, the “laugh” they do is just jarring. “Excitement” is just slightly toned up. It’s on ok story with sub-par narration. I don’t think I’ll be getting book 2 if it comes out

Wanted to like it but the MC and action were MIA

Loved the story, can’t stand Matt

I really enjoyed the story, but Matt isn’t a strong narrator, any voice other than his “MC” voice is just grating to the ears. Any deeper and it’s like he gargled nails. Any high pitched comes straight out of his nose. I enjoy Erin but Matt really bring anything I hear with him in it.

The ending of each chapter

I don’t know whose idea it was to end chapters. Like. This. But it wasn’t a good one. I’m pretty sure they weren’t in the other six books. It disrupts the flow of the book constantly. It’d be fine if it was emphasizing something, but it’s not. It’s just acting like an end of chapter signal. It’s very distracting.

I enjoyed the first three books immensely. Exactly my cup of tea, harem and kingdom founding. Then suddenly everything happens at once in the fourth. Saying this book feels rushed would be like saying absolute zero is chilly.

I enjoy the book series, and the narrator’s voice for most of the voices are fitting, however I don’t know who decided that Saphira thinks with a grumble like that. But I deeply hate it.
