Historia
Riverside Close is a picture-perfect community. The six exclusive and attractive houses are tucked far away from the noise and grime of city life, allowing the residents to enjoy beautiful gardens, pleasant birdsong, and tranquility from behind the security of a locked gate. It is the perfect idyll, until the Kentworthy family arrives, with their four giant, gas-guzzling cars, gaggle of shrieking children, and plans for a garish swimming pool in the backyard. Obvious outsiders, the Kentworthys do not belong in Riverside Close, and quickly offend every last one of the neighbors.

Intense, fun and scary - a masterpiece
Revisado: 04-29-24
I am amazed at the detail Rowling puts into these books - it seems like it should take her 10+ years to write each one, they are so nuanced - every character is given their own, unique, complex person-hood - the story line is so deeply layered. Plus, a lot of humor and suspence- not a wasted page - no filler - no stereotypes - just perfect.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Fun, but the NON STOP jokes are exhausting
Revisado: 02-12-23
Ever meet a compulsive joke-teller who is convinced that he's hilarious? That is what listening to this book is like - the humor is okay - I smiled but never laughed - and after the thousandth quip - it becomes unbearable - which is too bad because the story and premise is a lot of fun.

Historia
Mage Errant: Publisher's Pack contains books one and two of the Mage Errant series: Into the Labyrinth and Jewel of the Endless Erg. Hugh of Emblin is, so far as he's concerned, the worst student that the Academy at Skyhold has ever seen. He can barely cast any spells at all, and those he does cast tend to fail explosively.

Almost stopped listening - very glad I didn't
Revisado: 07-31-21
Because it starts off with the stereotypical "Good little nerd gets bullied by mean kids" trope, I almost stopped - but if you can past the first 30 minutes or so, the story picks up and becomes much more original and engaging. Looking forward to the 3rd book.

The ladies love James...AD NAUSEUM
Revisado: 05-17-21
Literally, every woman in the universe wants to sleep with James McGill. After 8 novels, this trend becomes laughable, and his need to bed every woman he sees feels pathological. It's a shame because the stories are a lot of fun, but after his 1,000th conquest is described in detail, it starts to feel like a teenager bragging about his exploits.

Historia
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

Too many subplots and endless character skecthes
Revisado: 10-09-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Sort of - very promising start but quickly devolves into endless subplots, detailed histories of minor characters, and - my god - pages and pages and pages of boardroom meetings. I often forgot what was going on because Coes takes long and meaningless tangents.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Peter Hermann?
He's competent but has a habit of exhaling loudly after each sentence.

Reader sounds like he's sucking on a mint
Revisado: 08-02-14
Would you try another book from Jim Butcher and/or James Marsters?
Butcher yes - Marsters no.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of James Marsters?
Someone more professional - he's got a good voice but he's CONSTANTLY swallowing right into the mic and/or smacking his tongue against the roof of his mouth - it has the effect of someone chewing gum in your ear.
Do you think Storm Front needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
yes - the character is perfect for a longer series.

Quite possibly the best of its kind
Revisado: 06-07-14
Would you listen to Parallel Universes of Self again? Why?
Yes - you can't find this information anywhere else - it's line after line of invaluable (and often humorous) wisdom.
Who was your favorite character and why?
NA
Which scene was your favorite?
NA
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
NO! The information is so dense and provocative that you will want to take it in slowly. This is NOT light entertainment or superficial 'feel good" material.
Any additional comments?
I've been reading self help/personal development/spiritual books for over twenty years - Wayne Dyer - Deepak - Tony Robbins - Abraham Hicks - Pema Chodron, etc... I'm a bit of a junkie, so I feel more than qualified to say that while I love all the aforementioned authors, no one comes close to the profound, liberating and highly actionable messages in this book. And finally, Thomas Miller does a great job with narration. You couldn't ask for more.
