Historia
Eleven-year-old Harry Mancini is not Harry Houdini - the famous escape artist who died in 1926. But Harry does live in Houdini's old New York City home, and he definitely knows everything there is to know about Houdini's life. What is he supposed to do, then, when someone starts texting him claiming that they're Houdini, communicating from beyond the grave? Respond, of course.

My students LOVED this. Sucks you in right from the beginning. The historical element to them was fascinating. We watched videos of Houdini and magic tricks. They love it and so did I.

Historia
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

My Heart
Revisado: 12-21-24
It lives up to the be the warmest, coziest, most comforting fantasy tale. I love it, couldn’t put it down. I did want much more romance, but I appreciate how lovely and different it is.

Wonderful
Revisado: 12-21-24
The voice acting of both of the main characters took getting used to, but it grows on you. But, the readings of the kids (particularly Thalia and Chauncey) are AMAZING. I love this sweet, beautiful, cool ass book.

Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Cannot get enough of this series. Checks all the beautiful fantasy boxes — magical, adventurous, beautiful world building, characters you root for. Love it.

Historia
Rosie Belmont has been driving me wild for years. The good kind of wild. The bad kind of wild. But mostly the kind of wild that comes with wanting your best friend’s little sister and knowing you can’t have her. After living in the city, she comes blasting back into Rose Hill like a storm. Beautiful, messy, and chaotic. And one wide-eyed desperate plea for a job is all it takes for me to hire her.

Boring and Weird
Revisado: 12-21-24
It’s fine, but the main guy is a freak (in a serial killer kind of way). He is obsessed with Rosie in a psycho way. He is not Cora’s Dad, the fact that her mom lets her live with a strange man is psychotic. So boring and vanilla plot wise. Read it on a recommendation or else I would not have finished. The voice actors are fine/good — the book is bad. 2 stars because it has its cute moments.
